Cops say Therese Patricia Okoumou — a 44-year-old immigrant from the Democratic Republic of the Congo — was the person responsible for the Fourth of July protest.

She lives in the St. George neighborhood of Staten Island and is currently in federal custody, according to police sources.

Officers from the NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit transported her to a federal detention center Wednesday night following her three-hour standoff with authorities. Her case is being handled by prosecutors in the Southern District of New York.

Sources said Okoumou told investigators she climbed up to the feet of Lady Liberty to protest President Trump’s “zero tolerance” policy on immigration and the separation of families at the border.

I guess this woman just wanted to remind people what the Statue of Liberty stands for.

It is this.

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Not this.

This woman will be charged with criminal trespassing, and arraigned in Manhattan Federal Court on Thursday.

Donations to the nonprofit group have also increased exponentially. The ACLU’s executive director, Anthony Romero, said that the organization has raised over $120 million since the 2016 presidential election. Before that watershed election, he said, donations had been in the range of just $3 million to $5 million annually.

Romero said that concerns over Trump’s attack on constitutional rights and civil liberties have brought a whole new generation of political activists into their group. “Until Trump most of our support came from people who have been with us since we challenged Nixon,” Romero told the Times. “Now we’re kind of cool. Cool’s not a word generally associated with us.”

The surge in membership, coupled with the massive increase in contributions, has for the first time given the ACLU all the resources it needs to fight Trump and other administration officials in court and elsewhere. They have been involved in more than 100 legal actions against Trump administration policies,

Trump Goes On Tirade Attacking The Constitution And Demands The Power To Throw Immigrants Out

…Trump thinks that America is his property and that the Southern border is his front yard. He also believes that as the “property owner” he has the power to just tell immigrants to get out of the United States of America. The President Of The United States has proclaimed himself to be bigger than the Constitution.

Donald Trump does not own America. We have a Constitution and a system of checks and balances that prevent a president from acting like a king. Trump can’t just tell people to get out of the United States, and what Trump means by fixing our immigration laws is that he wants Congress to take away due process and give him the power to toss immigrants out of the country whether they have just arrived in the US across the border or through legal means.

Trump lied in his tweet stream that ours is the only country that does this (a process). I feel so angry when people repeat the lies he spews and they are unwilling to fact check.

DHS Statement Contains Numerous Blatant Nazi Dog Whistles

“We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children.” This is known as “14 Words,” a white supremacist slogan coined by David Lane. Lane was a member of the white supremacist terrorist group The Order and coined the phrase while serving a 190-year prison sentence for multiple armed robberies and the murder of a Jewish talk show host.

“14 Words” has become popular with white supremacists worldwide, including those who love and support Donald Trump. And apparently, some of them work in the Department of Homeland Security.

On Thursday, Law and Crime pointed out that an article has been live on the Department of Homeland Security website since February that closely mimics this “14 Words” in its title — and that the structure, as well as the content, seem to pay homage to Adolf Hitler himself.

In a recently-resurfaced 2007 video of a speech aired on C-SPAN, Conway threatens to perform abortions on feminists “with a gun.”

“I always love to say to those gender studies people, if you say abortion, or stem cells, or guns one more time I’m going to perform one of those on you with a gun because you, by implication, are suggesting women can’t do the math,” Conway says.

I say “Brava” to the woman from Congo who scaled part of the Statue of Liberty but I fear that she will be deported in the dark of the night by the Trump regime or sentenced to life imprisonment for stating what so many of us believe and feel. It took great courage for her, an African immigrant, to do what she did and I admire her. None of us can afford to be silent while our country turns into the scourge of the world as Hitler’s Germany did in the 1930’s to its final collapse in 1945.
