Trump’s attempt to save face after disinviting Philadelphia Eagles falls flat on its face.

I don’t think I have ever seen anybody take a knee to protest a president’s speech before, but with Trump, this could catch on.

Courtesy of WaPo:

Here, on the South Lawn of the White House on Tuesday afternoon, there was to have been a celebration honoring the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, but it turned out very few Eagles actually wanted to be celebrated by Trump. So Trump, to spare himself the snub, disinvited the team because, he said, they disagree with him about standing for the national anthem — even though all members of the Eagles stood for the anthem all season long.

Instead, Trump declared a “Celebration of America.” He ordered the U.S. Marine Band and the U.S. Army Chorus to “loudly and proudly play the national anthem” — or, presumably, face court-martial if they played pianissimo.

The result was one of the oddest White House events in recent memory. It lasted six minutes from “Oh, say, can you see” to the last “my home sweet home” in “God Bless America,” and Trump’s three-minute speech was interrupted at the beginning by a heckler.

“Stop hiding behind the armed services and the national anthem to attack your fellow citizens,” called out the man, who had taken a knee. At this point, several booed the heckler, but the confusion created the appearance that the president was being booed.

The real reason for Trump’s cancellation: Few players were planning to come to his party. “It’s a cowardly act to cancel the celebration because the majority of the people don’t want to see you,” tweeted wide receiver Torrey Smith, who played for the Eagles last season. “To make it about the anthem is foolish.”

Reports were that most of the crowd was made up of White House staff and politicians and not a “1,000 Eagles fans” has claimed by Trump.

One NBC reporter asked several people who the quarterback was for the Eagles during the Superbowl and not one of them knew the answer.

What’ s more now even more sports teams are saying that even if they win they have no intentions of going to the White House:

Stephen Curry and LeBron James spoke their minds last year. They have not changed their minds this year.

No matter whose team wins the NBA championship, neither superstar will be at the White House anytime soon.

On the day when the Philadelphia Eagles were supposed to be there to commemorate winning the Super Bowl — a visit that was canceled by President Donald Trump and had the White House accusing players who weren’t planning on attending of abandoning their fans — Curry and James were among those speaking out at the NBA Finals in support of the Eagles.

“I’m not surprised. It’s typical of him,” James, the Cleveland star, said Tuesday of Trump’s decision to cancel. “I know no matter who wins this series, no one wants the invite anyway. So it won’t be Golden State or Cleveland going.”

What’s more, the entire event was mocked mercilessly on social media.

The whole thing was yet another huge shit show just like every other thing this orange-tinted idiot tries to do.

““They actually think that they deserve more honor and more respect and more dignity than our veterans and our troops.”

“And they’re unwilling to work with this administration simply because they have a god complex,” “I think what President Trump did here is so great. It’s exactly what needed to happen; a separation between the church and the state, the celebrities and the White House, especially on the backs of Barack Obama, who is honoring these celebrities and making them feel that there were better than the American people.”
“The bigger problem is black on black crime. Until they’re willing to talk the deeper issues that are rooted in our communities, I will not take seriously this WAR on our police officers, who in fact save black lives.””

“libertarian” in today’s political environment is almost always someone who ascribes to certain core philosophies: He abhors government, hates taxation, and is hostile to collective action on behalf of the less fortunate. Name any prominent modern libertarian—Ayn Rand, Paul Ryan, Ron Paul, Peter Thiel, Rand Paul—and they are likely to fit this description.” “which I address here—and it’s a frightening future.”
What if you cut all benefits?
    Nothing but competition.
    Free-enterprise zones.
The absolute rights of private ownership.

Trump is now 10-for-10 on the ‘your president might be a dictator’ checklist

Trump this week claimed the “absolute right” to pardon himself, but he has been steadily consolidating power ever since his surprise election.

International relations expert Stephen Walt compiled a checklist, “10 Ways to Tell if Your President Is a Dictator,” published by Foreign Policy shortly after the 2016 election — and Trump has already accomplished many of those warnings.

…When you add it all up using those metrics, Trump is well on his way to becoming a dictator — if he’s not one already.

Cambridge Analytica did receive data from researcher in Facebook storm, ex-chief says

Cambridge Analytica’s former chief denied deliberately misleading British lawmakers, even as he admitted that his firm did receive data from the researcher at the center of a scandal over Facebook data, contradicting his previous testimony.

Cambridge Analytica has said its work on Donald Trump’s presidential campaign did not use data at the center of the Facebook scandal, where the details of around 87 million users were allegedly improperly obtained.

Former chief Alexander Nix, in earlier testimony to a parliamentary committee, denied that Cambridge Analytica had ever been given data by Aleksandr Kogan, the researcher at the center of the scandal. However, on Wednesday he said that the consultancy had indeed been given data by Kogan.

“Of course, the answer to this question should have been ‘yes,’” Nix said, adding that he thought he was being asked about whether Cambridge Analytica still held data from the researcher. He said the company had deleted the data.

Trump came up with his own fractured version of history to justify his tariffs when told Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that Canada burned down the White House during the war of 1812. (They didn’t.)

…According to the sources, Trudeau pressed Trump on how he could justify the tariffs as a “national security” issue. In response, Trump quipped to Trudeau, “Didn’t you guys burn down the White House?” referring to the War of 1812.

The NFL Is Too Dumb To Realize That Donald Trump Is Never Going To Stop With This Shit

…Everything, everything, about Donald Trump’s two-year war against the NFL, which took its latest oafish turn when the president disinvited the Super Bowl-winning Philadelphia Eagles from a White House visit that the team seemed less than eager to accept in the first place, has been predictable. The only people who could not have seen it coming are the very people who did not see it coming—the plump defective oligarchs who run the NFL, many of whom gave millions of their own dollars to Trump’s rancid failed prank of a campaign. They believed that Trump was their peer or their friend or anything but what he is and has always so blaringly been, so they tried to make some sort of deal with him on the player protests against police violence and impunity that Trump identified as something that could be weaponized in his favor.

Because NFL owners are quite stupid even by the water-brained standards of the ultra-rich, they devised a strange sort of tiered non-compromise compromise on the protests in the hopes that Trump would stop ranting about their league and the ungrateful, un-American, subhuman thugs who are both its labor and its product. They did this without the consent or even the input of the players, which displeased the players. And Trump, because he is Trump, did not accept the deal. He’s a man who only knows how to do a couple of things, but one of those things is to find a bruise and then push and push on it. He does that very well.

“why Gab’s opponents need fake Nazis to fell the site, when the real thing already lives there. Members of the murderous neo-Nazi group Atomwaffen are openly on the site, as are Hitler-worshippers, genocide hype men, and architects of the deadly Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville”

Yea right the commander in cheese, doesn’t even know the the words to the National Anthem or God bless American but he is suppose to be more patriotic than the NFL players.

“Colin Kaepernick’s lawyers are expected to force Trump directly into the ongoing legal battle between the quarterback and league.

Kaepernick’s legal team is expected to seek federal subpoenas in the coming weeks to compel testimony from Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and other officials familiar with the president’s agenda on protesting NFL players, sources with knowledge of the quarterback’s collusion case against the NFL told Yahoo Sports.”
