Trump says Russian hacking happened on Obama’s watch, asks why he didn’t do anything about it? Perhaps he should ask Mitch McConnell.

So this is the tweet that Trump sent out early today attempting to deflect blame for the Russian hacking back onto the Obama Administration.

However, the reason that President Obama could not do more about the hacking has already been well documented.

Courtesy of Politico:

Joe Biden said Tuesday that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell stopped the Obama administration from speaking out about Russian interference in the 2016 campaign by refusing to sign on to a bipartisan statement of condemnation.

Biden said he and former President Barack Obama worried that without a united front of bipartisanship, speaking out before the election would undermine the legitimacy of the election and American institutions in a way that would play into the Russians’ larger ambitions.

“Can you imagine if the president called a press conference in October, with this fella, Bannon, and company, and said, ‘Tell you what: Russians are trying to interfere in our elections and we have to do something about it,’” Biden said. “What do you think would have happened? Would things have gotten better, or would it further look like we were trying to delegitimize the electoral process, because of our opponent?”

At that time Trump was already suggesting that the voting was being rigged, so if Obama and the Democrats had come out and said that the Russians were interfering it would have played right into Trump’s hands.

President Obama was really left with no good choices, the Republicans saw to that.

Also, keep in mind that the Russians were hacking and then disseminating the stolen information to get Donald Trump elected.

So no, it was not President Obama’s fault.

We are where we are today, because of the cooperation between the Russians, Mitch McConnell, the Republican party, and the Trump campaign.

And every day we find new facts which prove that to be true.

O’Connell, like so many of his GOP fellow Congress critters, is a traitor. They were seditious throughout the eight years of President Obama incumbency having pledged to block him every step of the way on Inauguration Day in 2009 and they became traitors when they colluded with the RNC and candidate Don the Con to invite Russian interference in the November 2016 election. As far as I’m concerned, they all belong in federal prison, and not a fancy one, for the remainder of their lives. With a double life sentence for Don the Con, Pence, and their family members.

Yes ma’am, and THIS was their solution.
You are much kinder than I am, Beaglemom, but OMFG.

And yet, we’re stuck with two SCOTUS lifetime appointments and numerous appeals and district lifetime judges. Nothing we can do about it.

    • Anonymous July 15, 2018 at 5:18 am

I thought the pledge to block all of Obama’s legislation was traitorous, but blocking Garland’s nomination for SCOTUS was heinous and will damage this country for decades.

Don’t they hang traitors? Maybe start a trend?

Narcissistic children like Trump don’t take responsibility for anything negative and always play the victim.

    • Anon July 15, 2018 at 4:44 am

What you wrote is well said specifying “anything negative”. I want to add that if someone even asserts a different choice or preference the narcissist takes that as disapproval and will suddenly lie denying then blame someone else playing the victim card. Something as small as a choice for lunch out the narcissist will take credit if someone else says they like the restaurant. If a person says they would not go there the narcissist will claim someone “demanded” the narcissist go there protesting he would not go there either. No hell hath their fury if you remind a narcissist of his choice, holding them accountable. Their entitlement to con people and sense of specialness to use people as their whipping boy becomes narcissistic rage triggering crazy rage to destroy others credibility. The next day someone may say “good restaurant choice” and the narcissist will elaborate boasting of his choice. Or if you suggested the restaurant the narcissist will steal credit even lying you did not want to go there. It is Narcissist Theater, they change who is whom, who did what exploiting people as their cast of characters.
People who are told only one version are vulnerable to be conned that a person telling the truth about the multiple versions is “fake news” a “liar, making things up”, “put words in their mouth” never ending destroying others credibility.

To many (most?) right wingers here in America and Europe, Putin is seen as the great white hope, the person who will maintain the white, christian heritage that is their god-given right. The fact that what the Russians did is illegal and anti-democratic is irrelevant to the christian right. Don’t expect any of the elected republicans to stand up to Putin. Sure a few of them, such as Senator Graham, might say some good lines, but when it comes to action, expect none from this group.

    • Anonymous July 14, 2018 at 6:53 pm

.True that, Paul, just watch what any of them say. It’s like the debate where tRump was stalking Hillary, $arah being allowed to go off topic 2008. This is why I would never make it as a journalist/moderator. I asked you a question, don’t give me your effing rhetoric, just answer the damned question and stay on your own side of the room. Some journalism, and I expect the same when Chris Wallace interviews Putin.

Treason is punishable by the death penalty; perhaps all those traitors in the Congress, the White House, and in the Justice system should remember that.

“According to the Republican senator, “NATO has had historic achievements and has been part of what was deterrence to Russia. But the interesting thing now is European forces are 13 times bigger than Russian forces — probably 30 times bigger than Russian forces. So right now there’s a disproportionate advantage to the west with NATO.””
““I think there are a lot of people out there who would have been surprised to hear a sitting United States senator describe Russia versus NATO in terms of confrontation and expansion as a chicken or egg proposition given the fact that NATO protects sovereign countries while allowing them to remain sovereign while Russia invades other countries and takes over those countries,””
” once again defending Russia. “Well, what I would say is that there were people — probably the greatest diplomat of the last century was George Kennan, and he did predict that as NATO expanded you would incite militaristic tendencies and nationalism in Russia. I’m not justifying Russian aggression in the Ukraine or Georgia.”<CRIMEa!

“I’m not saying they are equivalent,” he added. “I’m saying though that the provocation of pushing NATO forward after we promised Gorbachev that the west would not go one inch beyond Germany. And yet and under the Clinton administration we kept pushing, pushing, pushing. For every action we put out there there is a reaction.”"

“The prosecutors now have more than 2 million pieces of evidence seized from Cohen during the FBI raids on his home, office and hotel in April.”
” It turns out almost none of the evidence seized is protected and therefore can be used by prosecutors.”
“This latest devastating blow has shattered any hope Michael Cohen had of staying out of jail. There is an excellent chance this is the last piece of news needed to push him into making a plea deal with prosecutors. The terms of a plea deal would include him agreeing to testify against Donald Trump in exchange for reduced charges and lenient treatment.

The possibility of a plea deal has reminded everyone that the Michael Cohen case is not just about Michael Cohen. It is also about President Donald Trump” “the evidence now being released to prosecutors are communications between Cohen and Trump.”

“Add hacking to long list of Obama Admin failures to counter Russia in Ukraine, Crimea, Syria. Canceled E. Europe missile defense. Uranium One. Iranian nuke deal, all empowered Vladimir Putin. Also, “extremely careless” Hillary Clinton’s servers compromised Democrats, rest of us.
    7:49 AM – Jul 14, 2018”

“Mueller’s latest indictment indicates that on July 27, 2016 — the same day Trump urged Russia to try and obtain Clinton’s emails during a news conference — Russian hackers “attempted after hours to spearphish for the first time email accounts at a domain hosted by a third-party provided and used by Clinton’s personal office. At or around the same time, they also targeted seventy-six email addresses at the domain for the Clinton Campaign.””
“While DesJarlais resorted to straight-up lying, other Republicans responded to the latest Mueller indictment with desperate gas lighting.”

“Trump’s tweet bashing Obama also overlooks that Obama wanted to issue a bipartisan statement in the summer of 2016 detailing what the intelligence community knew about Russian meddling and offering federal help to states. But his effort was stymied by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who expressed “skepticism that the underlying intelligence truly supported the White House’s claims” about Russia interference, the Washington Post reported. McConnell ultimately blocked the release of a statement.”

“Wow – MSNBC put together video of every single time Trump mentioned @wikileaks during final month of the 2016 campaign.

Trump mentioned stolen emails published by WikiLeaks at least 164 times in Oct. 16, but later claimed it didn’t impact a single vote”
“despite the new information about Russian President Vladimir Putin orchestrating a conspiracy to undermine American elections, Trump — who is under criminal investigation for colluding with Putin”<OK?!
