Trump Administration transferred 10 million dollars from FEMA to pay for those ICE detention camps.

Such good planning.

Courtesy of NYT:

The Department of Homeland Security transferred nearly $10 million from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to a budget document released by a Democratic senator late Tuesday night, diverting funds from the relief agency at the start of the hurricane season that began in June. The release of the document comes as a major storm barrels toward the East Coast.

The document, which was released by the office of Senator Jeff Merkley, of Oregon, shows that the money would come from FEMA’s operations and support budget and was transferred into accounts at ICE to pay for detention and removal operations. The document also shows that the Department of Homeland Security transferred money from accounts at Customs and Border Protection that pays for border fencing and technology.

The transfer was a part of more than $200 million the Department of Homeland Security moved from the budgets of other agencies to ICE’s detention and removals.

Mr. Merkley, appearing Tuesday night on “The Rachel Maddow Show” on MSNBC, said the Trump administration was taking money from FEMA’S “response and recovery” and “working hard to find funds for additional detention camps.” Mr. Merkley has been a vocal critic of the administration’s immigration policies.

Gee, isn’t there like a monster hurricane predicted to arrive on the east coast today?

I bet the folks in North and South Carolina could have really used that extra ten million.

But hey, when you have to lock up people because it meets your racist agenda, you have to lock up people because it meets your racist agenda.

Trump Plans To Pay Millions To Mexico So It’ll Deport Undocumented Immigrants
The money will reportedly help Mexico pay transportation for thousands of Central Americans trying to reach the U.S.

Remember President Donald Trump’s insistence that Mexico would pay for his border wall? Well, it seems it’s the U.S. that’ll be shelling out millions to its southern neighbor in exchange for helping Trump in his crusade against immigration.

The Trump administration recently sent a notice to Congress saying it plans to divert $20 million allocated for foreign assistance to help Mexico deport up to 17,000 undocumented immigrants from the country, according to a New York Times report published late Wednesday.

The money would reportedly help Mexico pay for the plane and bus fares of deportees. Central Americans attempting to flee to the U.S. via Mexico will be the main target of the initiative.

A Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman confirmed the plan to the Times, saying the administration was “working closely with our Mexican counterparts to confront rising border apprehension numbers.”

The U.S. Government Is Still Keeping 12,800 Migrant Children in Jail

…According to government data obtained by the Times there are currently 12,800 children being detained in federal custody right now, the highest number ever. In May of 2017 there were just 2,400 migrant children in federal custody.

There seem to be numerous reasons that so many children are still in the “baby jails” as they are called. According to the government it is not because more children are being arrested or taken from their parents right now, but is because fewer children are being released from custody.

Laws require that unaccompanied children be placed with sponsors who meet certain requirements. Historically, children have been released to the custody of parents or extended family members upon entering the U.S., but that has changed under Trump.

Now the Trump administration has a new rule that began in June requiring sponsors of detained children to first be fingerprinted. Unless this occurs, they cannot pick up children. Fingerprint information of course is then shared with immigration officials.

Since many family members who want to be sponsors do not have proper legal documentation, they generally are reluctant to be fingerprinted because this would risk their deportation.

So the answer is to just keep the migrant children in jail indefinitely.

Maddow Drops Another Bomb: Trump Took $29M From The Coast Guard Ahead Of Hurricane Season

…But Rachel Maddow revealed on Wednesday that it’s actually much worse than that. The administration didn’t just take money from FEMA; they took nearly three times more – $29 million – out of the U.S. Coast Guard to fund increased ICE detention operations.

So now about $30 million dollars has been purloined from its rightful recipients (FEMA for Hurricane response and recovery and the US Coast Guard). Well, at least Don the Con has found a use for the Coast Guard which he had wanted to disband during the 2016 campaign because he had no idea what the Coast Guard does. Those of us who live near a coast (for me, it’s the Great Lakes) have great respect and appreciation for the Coast Guard. Obviously the Trump administration dares not go to Congress begging for more money to use for imprisoning minors for no reason other than their place of birth, especially shortly before an election.

DHS transferred **$169 million** from other programs to ICE for migrant detention
DHS pulled extra money for ICE detention and removal of migrants from across the department, including several key national security programs.

The Department of Homeland Security transferred $169 million from other agencies to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for the detention and removal of migrants this year, according to a document sent to Congress by DHS.

Many of the transfers came from key national security programs, including $1.8 million from the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office, $9.8 million from FEMA, $29 million from the U.S. Coast Guard and more than $34 million from several TSA programs. DHS also transferred $33 million from other ICE programs to pay for detention and removal, making the total amount of money transferred $202 million.

The FEMA and Coast Guard transfers were first reported by “The Rachel Maddow Show.” On Tuesday night, Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., announced on the show that nearly $10 million was moved from FEMA’s budget to ICE. The budget document Merkley cited, which was later released and publicized by the DHS Watch program at America’s Voice, an advocacy group based in Washington, showed a breakdown of how DHS moved money between different programs and agencies.

Hypocrite Trump Has Staffed His Resorts With Hundreds Of Cheap Foreign Workers

…Trump campaigned on a promise to defend US jobs and to tighten US immigration policies, and his administration has taken a number of actions designed to protect American jobs. Yet since he launched his presidential campaign in June 2015, businesses owned by Trump or bearing his name have sought to hire more than 570 foreign guest workers, including more than 280 for Mar-a-Lago, the luxurious resort he owns in Palm Beach, Florida.

    G. When I click on this site there are a bunch of ads from groups like the judicial watch against James Comey and George Soros. Of coarse I click them off because they are those crazy nazis at war with the so called liberals whoever they may be. Anyways, I am wondering if the concentration camps that they are syphoning off from Fema and other agencies will later be used for other people that the Republicans deem undesireables. Like us brown American citizen and so forth. I think it’s odd they would be doing these camps in front of American eyes and no one seems worried. I mean, I think the holding of children from their parents is atrocious and I hope to hell that those involved get theirs eventually. I see this as something sinister. We need to get rid of the Nazi party in this country aka the Republicans. Remember a few years back when that politician resigned because he didn’t want to be a good Nazi with the bad? What was his name. He knew this is where we were going.

US fighters intercept Russian bombers near Alaska

U.S. fighter jets intercepted two Russian nuclear-capable bombers west of Alaska on Tuesday, according to a statement from North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).

The Russian TU-95 bombers, which were accompanied by two Russian fighter jet escorts, turned away before entering U.S. airspace, according to the statement, which was obtained by CNN.

“U.S. officials told CNN that the military sees these flights as routine and not a major risk to U.S. interests. The incident did occur, however, within the U.S. Air Defense Identification Zone, which extends 200 miles off Alaska’s coast.

A previous interception of bombers occurring on Sept. 1 involved bombers without any Russian fighter jet escorts, CNN noted.

Tuesday’s incident also occurred amid Russian war games with China along the two countries’ border, a massive effort involving thousands of Russian vehicles and personnel along with similar participation from Chinese forces.”
