Since the shutdown Americans now trust Democrats more than Republicans to deal with border security.

Of course, they do.

As a coda to President Trump’s failed government shutdown strategy, it is difficult to find something more brutal than this:

After a 35-day partial shutdown, in which Trump and the GOP held the government’s funding hostage in exchange for a border wall, people prefer Democrats on the issue of border security.

A new Quinnipiac University poll finds Americans trust Democrats more than Trump on border security, 50 percent to 41 percent. That is up from a 49-to-44 Democratic advantage two weeks ago. Both findings are rare since the issue has almost always favored the GOP.

As recently as November, a Washington Post-ABC News poll found people favored Republicans to Democrats on the issue of border security by nearly the opposite margin, 49 to 39. A few months earlier, in July, a Post-Schar School poll provided more options but found the same margin: Americans favored the GOP on the topic by 10 points, 37 to 27.

Gotta love it.

And of course, this gives the Democrats, even more, to work with when it comes to how much money to spend on border security, and how to spend it.

Simply put, Trump really fucked himself.

    Game show idea……

    Have teams of three Mexicans try to get over or under each wall section shown. The fastest team to do it get $100,000.

    Each wall design could be tested to see how long it takes to breach them.

      I asked a trump supporter how they plan to build a wall in the Rio Grande, first he had never heard of the Rio Grande, however his solution was to build the wall on pontoons.. when I stated, can’t those pesky illegals SWIM under the pontoons, he was speechless, could come up with a solution!!!

    Pelosi says Trump’s dismissal of the testimony by intelligence chiefs is “stunning.”

    “One dismaying factor of it all is that president just doesn’t seem to have the attention span or the desire to hear what the intelligence community has been telling him”

    “Speaker Pelosi and her colleagues are advertising it as a package of urgent measures to save American democracy,” McConnell said on the Senate floor. “What it really seems to be is a package of urgent measures to rewrite the rules of American politics for the exclusive benefit of the Democratic Party.”

    @SenGillibrand
    Voting isn’t a “power grab”. It’s democracy, and it’s literally the entire point of our representative government.
    And by the way: Not only should Election Day be a federal holiday, we need automatic voter registration and universal mail voting, too.

    @DaShanneStokes
    Trump stooge Mitch McConnell is right that making Election Day a federal holiday is a “power grab,” but not in the way he means: Dems want to give power back to the people. GOP voter suppression and gerrymandering shows they want to take power from the people.

    Is that Bristol’s diaphragm?

    Oops, no, those are sections of a wall. Hard to distinguish though.

    Let’s take a walk down memory lane.. to 2017 when trump had this discussion with the President of Mexico
    =========================================================================

    It’s important to remember Trump told Mexico’s president that Trump’s wall is “the least important thing” so obviously not a “National Emergency” and Trump said his wall is only “political”

    TRUMP: the wall is “the least important thing we are talking about, but politically this might be the most important.”

    Trump told Mexico President he (Trump) is in a “political bind” and begged with Mexico President to pay for the wall.

    TRUMP: “the fact is we are both in a little bit of a political bind because I have to have Mexico pay for the wall – I have to.
    Dang! Trump was beggin’ hard!

    The next exchange is eyeopening: Trump vowed America will not pay for his campaign wall (let that sink in).

    TRUMP: Because you and I are both at a point now where we are both saying we are not going to pay for the wall. From a political standpoint, that is what we will say. We cannot say that anymore because if you are going to say that Mexico is not going to pay for the wall, then I do not want to meet with you guys anymore because I cannot live with that.

    Notice Trump also admitted that wall is purely political and admitted that all the times Trump bellowed “Mexico will pay” was also purely political (which we all knew, but Trump finally admits).

    After confessing to Mexico that everything about Trump’s campaign wall is purely political, Trump then begs Mexico’s President to stop saying Mexico will not pay for it.

    I am willing to say that we will work it out, but that means it will come out in the wash and that is okay. But you cannot say anymore that the United States is going to pay for the wall. I am just going to say that we are working it out.
    Believe it or not, this is the least important thing that we are talking about, but politically this might be the most important talk about. But in terms of dollars – or pesos – it is the least important thing. I know how to build very inexpensively, so it will be much lower than these numbers I am being presented with, and it will be a better wall and it will look nice. And it will do the job……..
