Showtime says Sarah Palin lied.

Hang on, I have to walk over to my fainting couch.

Courtesy of CNN:

Showtime says comedian Sacha Baron Cohen did not claim to be a disabled veteran to secure any interview subjects for his series “Who Is America,” despite claims from former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to the contrary.

“There has been widespread misinformation over the past week about the character of Billy Wayne Ruddick Jr., Ph.D., performed by Sacha Baron Cohen on the Showtime comedy series ‘Who Is America?’ Baron Cohen did not present himself as a disabled veteran, and viewers nationwide who watched the premiere on Sunday can now attest to that,” the statement issued Monday said.

Showtime also points out that Cohen’s character “did not wear military apparel of any kind” in his interviews with Senator Bernie Sanders and Palin and even specifies at one point in the show that he is not disabled.

In the first episode, Ruddick, as portrayed by Cohen, says he uses a mobility scooter to “conserve” his body’s “finite energy.”

“In addition, Baron Cohen never presented himself as a veteran of the U.S. military to former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin during the booking process or during the filming of her interview, and contrary to her claims he did not appear in a wheelchair,” the statement said.

Sarah Palin lied?

Must be Tuesday.

If you were a frequent visitor to the old blogspot site, this is not going to surprise you even a little.

However, if you are a newbie and not as well versed in Palin lies as the rest of us, let me inform you that we have developed a simple yet effective method for determining when she is lying.

Her mouth is moving.

You’re welcome.

Sacha Baron Cohen’s ‘Who Is America?’ Enjoys Solid Debut Ratings

…The series premiere of Sacha Baron Cohen’s “This Is America” got off to a respectable start in the ratings on Sunday.

The show’s debut on Showtime’s linear channel drew a modest 0.1 rating in adults 18-49 and 327,000 viewers, airing at 10 p.m. However, streaming and On Demand viewing added another 301,000 viewers to that total, bringing the show to 628,000. Showtime also aired multiple encores of the premiere, which bring its viewership haul to just over 1 million for the night. The show will also likely see significant lift in delayed viewing.

A 10-minute preview of the series posted on Showtime’s YouTube channel on Sunday has also garnered over 10 million views.

According to Showtime, “Who Is America?” also drove the highest sign-ups of any series for the Showtime streaming service in a single day in 2018, and it was the third best day for series’ premiere day sign ups since the service launched.

Written and directed by Cohen, the seven-episode series explores individuals known and unknown across the American political spectrum. It sees the actor and comedian return to the form that launched his career, staging “Da Ali G Show”-style interviews with a range of subjects including Sarah Palin, Joe Walsh, and Roy Moore.

For many among the target audience for “Who Is America?,” Baron Cohen’s new series on Showtime, such aspects of contemporary life hardly need to be exposed—and Baron Cohen’s approach, so good at stripping away bland niceties hiding cruel intent, seems hardly necessary for an era in which the intent is hardly hidden.

What a pleasant surprise, then, that “Who Is America?” feels both as richly comic as anything Baron Cohen has done in the decade-plus since “Borat” and urgently resonant with our own era. The show’s format—using four new Baron Cohen personae in order to expose the nature of contemporary American culture—is particularly effective, moving as it does beyond the boldface names who’ve come forward to say they’ve been pranked by the comic. The first episode, for instance, puts gun lobbyists in conversation with Erran Morad, a former Israeli colonel played by Baron Cohen. “Morad” is traveling the U.S. to learn more about gun policy and to share his full-throated support for a particularly libertine understanding of the Second Amendment; by episode’s end, gun lobbyists as well as past and present members of Congress are on tape endorsing his “Kinder-Guardians” program, designed to teach children of three and four how to shoot.

This is the magic of Baron Cohen at his best: Simultaneously devising bizarre and seemingly impossibly outré bits of social commentary, and knowing the culture well enough to be sure that his targets will be along for the ride. The lengthy “Kinder-Guardians” segment, culminating as it does in a bizarre pro-toddler-riflery PSA endorsed by Dana Rohrabacher and Trent Lott, is the episode’s creative high point. Less engaging is much of what led up to it: An interview between Sen. Bernie Sanders and an Alex Jones-style web-”journalist” (played by Baron Cohen, of course) sees plenty of good jokes but Sanders utterly failing to take the comic bait.

Sacha Baron Cohen’s New TV Show Rattles This 2018 Race
A California congressman appeared to show his support for a (fake) school program arming young children.

For Harley Rouda, the Democrat challenging Republican Rep. Dana Rohrabacher in the race for California’s 48th Congressional District, Christmas came in July when the incumbent got duped in an outrageous TV show prank by comedian Sacha Baron Cohen.

Rohrabacher and a handful of other current and former Republican lawmakers were sharply criticized this week for appearing in an ad for a made-up school program that would train children as young as preschoolers how to use firearms.

“Arming children in response to an epidemic of gun violence sounds like a good idea to Dana Rohrabacher, which can only mean one thing: Dana Rohrabacher is completely out of good ideas,” Rouda said in a statement released Tuesday.

Cohen, the host of the new series “Who Is America?” on Showtime, disguised himself as an Israeli anti-terrorism expert to elicit support from a handful of Republicans, including Rohrabacher, Rep. Joe Wilson (S.C.), former Sen. Trent Lott (Miss.) and former Rep. Joe Walsh (Ill.).

The fictional program, called Kinderguardians, would train students from preschool through middle school how to use guns.

“Maybe having many young people trained [to] understand how to defend themselves and their school might actually make us safer here,” Rohrabacher said, appearing to read from a cue card.

He shot back after the footage became public this week, saying he was a victim of fraud.

…“[Rohrabacher] can try to walk back his comments or call them fake news, but that’s just a sad, cynical move straight out of the tired, politics-as-usual playbook,” Rouda said in his statement. “I am fighting to protect children from gun violence, not put them in crosshairs.”

Rohrabacher, a pro-Russia voice in the House from Southern California, is considered one of Congress’ most vulnerable Republicans in the 2018 midterms. A Monmouth poll released Tuesday shows him closely trailing Rouda.

Democratic nominee Harley Rouda narrowly leads Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R) in one of California’s most competitive House races this cycle, according to a new poll.

A Monmouth University Poll released Tuesday found Rouda ahead of Rohrabacher by 3 points, 46 percent to 43 percent, among all potential voters. Rouda’s small lead is within the survey’s margin of error, of 4.9 percentage points.

Rouda still maintains a slight edge when using different likely voter models. Rouda leads Rohrabacher, 47 percent to 45 percent, when using a historical midterm model. And Rouda extends his lead to 4 points when turnout is surging in Democratic precincts.

  6. anonymous July 17, 2018 at 11:44 am

Awww, too badz. Her latest desperate and shameless ploy for attention isn’t going to reap the reward she sooooo hoped for. She just doesn’t know when to give up.

    • Anonymous July 17, 2018 at 1:47 pm

You’d think she’d get a clue. NPDs never do.
Besides, the attention IS all she wants, and there’s still dumbshitz out there who believe her every word.

  7. Anon July 17, 2018 at 1:12 pm

Lmao! Of course she had to lie. And she believes her lies. She tried and failed to get agead of her stupidity.
    Tight abs Sarah!!

  8. Beaglemom July 17, 2018 at 2:11 pm

Frankly I could care less about Sacha Baron Cohen. I think the world has much more serious problems than who was made a fool of by Cohen. But I know that Sarah Palin lies all the time, just like her hero Don the Con.

    • Anonymous July 17, 2018 at 3:21 pm

Cohen’s brand of humor is not mine, Beaglemom, but her little-boy-lovin’ Rush was playing it up today as yet another slam on Queen Heifer so I say more power to him! She’s so freaking stupid, seriously, come out and get slapped back into your compound. Rude? Yes, but you’ve always had more class than me. Also too, the will we ever save this website c4p people continue in “their” stupidity. The show got high ratings, someone there took view numbers off You Tube as a validation of fake news. “only 300,000. $arah wins!” How freaking DUMB can you be? These are her fan base.

Something about it clearly made her and the others think he was portraying himself as a Vet.

    • Anonymous July 17, 2018 at 3:41 pm

I’m surprised that she didn’t give him a blow job, how she WUVS her vets.

Let’s see how many candidates have her stump for them come fall.
What’s the count since dotard sent her packing after Oklahoma ’16? ONE?

  13. Anonymous July 17, 2018 at 5:03 pm

When you can’t laugh at yourself for being punk’d, loser! Perhaps she should pay attention to her wayward son Track, Trig, and the upcoming nuptials of Willow to Billy Bob.

Give it a rest, $arah, we ALL know who you are and so does DC.

  14. Erik Huebsch July 17, 2018 at 6:17 pm

It’s not hard to Rope-a-Dope Palin or any of the repub’s, for that matter. Once they start talking, they will incriminate themselves, it just takes a little encouragement and they will reveal what they really think.

  15. Anonymous July 17, 2018 at 6:46 pm

I guess her PR agent vets her engagements like the McCain campaign vetted her.

    • Anonymous July 17, 2018 at 9:29 pm

Love the hell out of her PR agent. Found at the Dollar Store version?
Bring your kids, too, we hear they throw a great right hook. Saves $$.
Look at this tribe, just LOOK at them. All about Jesus! LOL If you say so.

  16. Anon. July 17, 2018 at 6:51 pm

As her looks have faded, so has her ability to attract attention. She doesn’t have a plan ‘B’ (a brain) to back her up.
Even the die-hard brain dead supporters will wander away mumbling incoherently.

    • Anonymous July 17, 2018 at 8:56 pm

They still do. Please SAVE us, $arah! She couldn’t in the first place.
N*****s, Muslims, and family. Oh MY!
You keep working it, Queen Heifer, it’s fun to watch you dance.

  17. Anon July 17, 2018 at 7:25 pm

    Hey. Sarah. Distraction indeed. Russia.
Tell your Vladimir Putin the body never lies, but he sure does. Happy hunting.

    • Lewsiffer July 17, 2018 at 9:11 pm

From what I can tell you allude frequently to one of the mae Romanovs not actually being killed in 1918 and somehow coming to Alaska and somehow being taken advantage of by the Heaths or Palins or one of their associated ancestral families. I’m never certain why you don’t elaborate here, or better yet write a book, do a podcast, radio or TV interview or any other more widely viewed source of media.

This is the only place I’ve seen the allusion and I’ve done a bit of research since you began this thread of thought many years ago on the old IM blog.

If you don’t ever bring this to light then Heaths/Palins win, right? Not sure why you don’t elaborate, but hey, there are more than a few deluded folks that post here so I get it and I probably just answered all of my own questions 🙂

      • Anon July 18, 2018 at 6:13 am

You must be a Palin. Lucifer. 😉
