New York Republican Rep. Chris Collins announced on Saturday that he would suspend his bid for re-election after initially vowing to remain on the ballot for his race this fall despite facing insider trading charges.

In doing so, Collins joined a not-so-exclusive club of lawmakers who have refused to resign even after being indicted.

Members of that club almost always meet an unhappy fate.

Most lawmakers in a similar situation initially vowed to fight, but wound up quickly caving in to bad press and resigning. A handful managed to win re-election only to have to give up the seat later after being convicted.

Yeah, I think this is where I typically type out the lyrics to “Another One Bites the Dust.”

I think we can appropriately start using the term “The Trump Curse” at this point, don’t you?

“rump swamp creature Chris Collins announced he would suspend his campaign” “The GOP congressman’s corruption and his subsequent decision to suspend his campaign is not the shrewd work of the Democratic Party, Nancy Pelosi or the “Impeach Trump” movement.

But there’s no question that it will further boost Democratic candidates all across the country as voters look for candidates who will serve as a check on the swamp Donald Trump has created during his time in Washington.”

Here’s a rundown of what’s happened to the main figures from last year’s Unite the Right rally
The movement has splintered, and its biggest proponents have mostly fallen on hard times or been kicked off social media.

Even though a few far-right figures remain determined to hold a rally tomorrow outside the White House, this crackdown has caused a major fracturing, making it increasingly unlikely that many of the major figures will, or even can, return to lend support. Here’s a rundown of some of the main far-right figures from last year’s rally, and a look at where they are now.

New database highlights how much foreign lobbyists are spending under Trump

…Indeed, the database has already provided eye-opening information, at least as it pertains to figuring out which countries have funneled the most money to lobbyists under the Trump administration. … Today, Cowan on the run from the law after a warrant was issued for his arrest when Cowan didn’t deliver on a promised payment to his ex-wife after already spending a brief time in jail in 2015 over related issues, Politico reports.

Cowan was involved in clandestine operations for the US military from the Vietnam War through the War on Terror, working to bring down everyone from the Vietcong to high-value targets in Afghanistan.

For a significant chunk of that time, following the September 11, 2001 terror attacks, Cowan routinely appeared on Fox News as a paid military analyst. The network reportedly wasn’t aware he was continuing black-ops work in the Middle East at the same time and claimed it wouldn’t have hired him had it known.

And now that he’s out and he cannot be removed or replaced on the ballot, suddenly the DCCC is supporting his Democratic challenger. This is what the Democratic Party does. It only supports sure things. Otherwise you’re on your own. The Democrats lost special elections right after the election because the DCCC didn’t support the democrats running in those Republican districts. Even on their own the races were close and they lost but narrow margins. If only they had the support of their own party.

Tom Perez is walking back the dems pledge not to take money from the fossil fuel industry.

    Perez is a disaster.

    Told you so.
