New Donald Trump book by Watergate reporter Bob Woodward may be the most devastating yet.

We have never seen so many negative books written about a president while he is still in office, and this new one called “Fear” by Bob Woodward is even more brutal than those already written.

The Washington Post got their hands on an early copy and have printed excerpts that, while not surprising, will further cause people to doubt Trump’s ability to handle the job that the Russians helped steal for him.

Here are just a few tidbits courtesy of WaPo:

John Dowd was convinced that President Trump would commit perjury if he talked to special counsel Robert S. Mueller III. So, on Jan. 27, the president’s then-personal attorney staged a practice session to try to make his point.

In the White House residence, Dowd peppered Trump with questions about the Russia investigation, provoking stumbles, contradictions and lies until the president eventually lost his cool.

“This thing’s a goddamn hoax,” Trump erupted at the start of a 30-minute rant that finished with him saying, “I don’t really want to testify.”

Woodward spent quite a lot of time interviewing White House staff, administration officials, and other folks in the Trump circle.

According to Woodward the main focus of many staffers in the White House is to help contain Trump’s temper and control some of his more destructive impulses.

They are also tasked with explaining to Trump what his job is and why he needs to do it.

Such as maintaining a military presence on the Korean Penninsula:

At a National Security Council meeting on Jan. 19, Trump disregarded the significance of the massive U.S. military presence on the Korean Peninsula, including a special intelligence operation that allows the United States to detect a North Korean missile launch in seven seconds vs. 15 minutes from Alaska, according to Woodward. Trump questioned why the government was spending resources in the region at all.

“We’re doing this in order to prevent World War III,” Defense Secretary Jim Mattis told him.

After Trump left the meeting, Woodward recounts, “Mattis was particularly exasperated and alarmed, telling close associates that the president acted like — and had the understanding of — ‘a fifth- or sixth-grader.’ ”

John Kelly had a tough time of it as well:

White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly frequently lost his temper and told colleagues that he thought the president was “unhinged,” Woodward writes. In one small group meeting, Kelly said of Trump: “He’s an idiot. It’s pointless to try to convince him of anything. He’s gone off the rails. We’re in Crazytown. I don’t even know why any of us are here. This is the worst job I’ve ever had.”

Trump also referred to Reince Priebus as a “little rat” who just “scurries around,”  mocked former national security adviser H.R. McMaster behind his back, insulted Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross by saying he was “past his prime,” and of course relentlessly badgered Attorney General Jeff Sessions by mocking his accent, and once saying “This guy is mentally retarded. He’s this dumb Southerner. … He couldn’t even be a one-person country lawyer down in Alabama.”

According to WaPo Trump also flirted with the idea of having Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad assassinated, ( “Let’s fucking kill him! Let’s go in. Let’s kill the fucking lot of them,.”) and was only kept from withdrawing from NAFTA and a trade agreement with South Korea because then White House chief economic adviser Gary Cohn kept stealing the documents he had written up to do so off of his desk.

There is a lot more, a WHOLE lot more, but I will end with this back and forth between Trump and his former attorney John Dowd:

Dowd told Trump: “Don’t testify. It’s either that or an orange jumpsuit.”

But Trump, concerned about the optics of a president refusing to testify and convinced that he could handle Mueller’s questions, had by then decided otherwise.

“I’ll be a real good witness,” Trump told Dowd, according to Woodward.

“You are not a good witness,” Dowd replied. “Mr. President, I’m afraid I just can’t help you.”

The next morning, Dowd resigned.

Like I said, none of us at this point can really be surprised by any of this, but it just reinforces that the Trump White House is a huge shit show.

Update: Well clearly this book is really getting under Trump’s skin as he has now coerced many of the folks quoted in the book to deny that they made those statements.

Isn’t this essentially the same tactic used after the Michael Wolff book came out?

Update 2: Oh, did I mention that Woodward has tapes?

Update 3: Speaking of tapes, here is one of Trump talking to Woodward about this very book.

Well, that is a rather odd conversation.

Trump is such an attention whore, and he likes to talk loud and boisterous so anything he said, on or off the record is believable. Besides, we’ve been subject to his run of the mouth for a few years now. He’s a liar liar pants on fire if ever there was one. The whole White House staff including Trump and Giuliani would have long noses if such a thing were possible. Everything they say are lies. And Mitch McConnell goes about his day tongue in cheek as he reaps the rewards of having his bad boy mouthing off on a daily stream.

I would not be surprised if Trump stayed all night tweeting about this book. This is a pretty significant hit.

Sounds just like Team Sarah and SarahPAC screaming “did Not, Did NOT, DID NOT!” when “Game Change” rolled out, also too, when they hadn’t even seen it.

I can believe all the excerpts from the book. Just saying I hope those named used their experience, intelligence, and love of country to intervene as depicted to save us from Trump.

In attempting to fact check his idiocy’s tweets, I discovered James Mattis was born in my small hometown May 8, 1950.
    Holy CRAP.

I wonder, years from now, will these people who have been involved up to their necks in this Russian debacle be ashamed of themselves, or will history let it slide? I mean George W. did a giant no no by getting a war in Irag so his buddies could benefit financially. Now Trump seems to be doing the same thing. Someone’s getting rich from his presidency and it ain’t the average American, and you can bet your’ bottom dollar on that. The crooks has been let in and now there’s no more cookies. The Sarah Sanders people are totally lost on Trump because they think he is God’s choice. Only, they fail to recognize that if that were true it would have to be the God of this world. You know, the guy downstairs so to speak.

Colbert had this in his monologue. Said two of the lawyers went to Mueller and acted out the failed practice and pleaded with him not to have Trump testify because HE LIES.
