Legal bare knuckle boxing returns to the US.

I thought this country was returning to the 1950’s, not the 1850’s.

Bare-knuckle boxing, last practiced with fanfare on American soil when legendary champion John L. Sullivan was knocking out men in the 1880s, made its official return Saturday night.

Billed as the first legal, sanctioned and state-regulated bare-knuckle event in U.S. history, the 10-card bout got underway at the Cheyenne Ice and Events Center in front of a sellout crowd of 2,000. A potentially far bigger audience watched the pay-per-view telecast.

Fighters wearing gauze wrapped around their hands but with knuckles exposed paraded in the “squared circle,” specially designed for the event that prompted threatening phone calls, according to promoter David Feldman.

A co-main event featured two women, MMA fighter Bec Rawlings of Australia and boxer Alma Garcia of Denver. The other co-main event featured Ricco Rodriguez, a former UFC heavyweight champion.

Seven of the 10 fights were decided by knockout or technical knockout, and only three fights went beyond the third round on a bloody night.

What in the hell is happening to this country?

Look your Uncle Gryphen was at one time a fighter himself, and yes I did fight without benefit of headgear and boxing gloves more than a few times.

I even trained other fighters.

That is why feel quite justified in saying that this is a disgusting and barbaric “sport” which has no reason to exist in this day and age.

In my youth, I was a huge fan of boxing matches and martial arts tournaments, but as I learned more about what the long-term effects these activities could have on the human brain, not to mention my own experiences, I have turned away from them completely. (I feel much the same about football, which is why I only watch the Superbowl these days.)

What does it really say about us that we would encourage human beings to injure each other, and possibly inflict life-altering harm, just for our entertainment?

No, it is one thing to watch a violent movie where you know the actors are protected and the blood is fake, and quite another to watch people beat each other bloody.

Increased racism, xenophobia, anti-LGBTQ hatred, and now bare-knuckle brawling as a sport.

Is THIS what electing Donald Trump to the White House has inflicted on this country?

Guiliani said yesterday that Trump could have shot Comey and he couldn’t be indicted while he was president. This morning, Trump just came out and said he has the right to pardon himself.

We now have a president that thinks he is above the law. He is not a dictator, but he wants to be.

OT?”Event organizer Kenda Fenton-Todd sided with police and invited motorcycle enthusiasts to show their support for police in the racially charged incident.

“With all the controversy a due to the recent arrest of by the young lady, it was just necessary to show these people that we support them,” Todd said. “You can’t just walk into an establishment and be belligerent and threatening and hostile and not suffer the outcome of getting arrested. We just felt that it was necessary to show these guys that we back them.” Todd said Clemons, who was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, should have expected to be violently taken to the floor and stripped partially nude in front of other customers.

“You either obey the law and you comply or things happen,” “They did their job. They had to do their job that’s what they’re trained to do.”

“It was unfortunate that the young lady’s wardrobe had exposed herself,” she added. “But under the circumstances, like I said, if you don’t comply with the law then you’re going to get manhandled whether you’re a woman or a man.””

“We bring peace,” “We’re all about peace so we’re not here to raise a ruckus or anything. We’re just here to fellowship orderly and have breakfast and show these guys that we love them.””

‘The paper breaks down into three main points:

    • Current projections virtually ignore a very real possibility: that events such as the melting of the Antarctic ice sheet or the faster-than-expected thawing of Arctic permafrost will act like kerosene on a bonfire. These could increase the rate of climate change astronomically.

    • These forecasts are based on an average of all possible climate change scenarios, even though newer models account for the increased likelihood of more warming.

    • The newer models are still largely abstract, but they also factor in how human uncertainty over climate change can potentially cause even more damage in the future.’

Uhhhh…. you do realize the promoter of this fight was putting this event together long before Trump, during Obama’s presidency don’t you?
