Latest Russian asset appears to be….Rand Paul?

Courtesy of NYT:
“I’ve traveled here to say that there are many Americans who want to have diplomacy, that want to have engagement; I’m one of them,” Mr. Paul said, standing beside Konstantin Kosachyov, the chairman of the foreign relations committee of Russia’s senate who has been subject to American sanctions since April.

At home, Mr. Paul’s fellow senators speak in grave tones about how to respond to an alarming pace of revelations about the scope and durability of Russia’s campaign to undermine the democratic process — an effort that American intelligence officials warn remains active despite American retaliation. One plan, introduced last week by three Republicans and three Democrats, calls for “crushing” new sanctions.

Mr. Paul has something else in mind — maybe even taking some Russian lawmakers back to Washington.

“Our biggest issue right now is no dialogue,” Mr. Paul said. “It isn’t the issues at hand. The issue is that we can’t have discussion of issues because we have no dialogue.”

Later in the day, in a meeting with members of Russia’s lower house of parliament, Mr. Paul said he would oppose the passage of new Russia sanctions proposed by his Senate colleagues. He complained about “sanctions hysteria” in Washington, according to a report by RIA Novosti, a Russian state-run news agency.

For good measure, he chatted up Sergey I. Kislyak, the former Russian ambassador to the United States whose meetings with Michael T. Flynn, who would become Mr. Trump’s first national security adviser; Jeff Sessions, who would become attorney general; and Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law, are at the heart of the Russia investigation.

Yeah, Rand was meeting with this guy.

Seriously WTF is going on?

First, we have Trump and his cohorts colluding with the Russians to steal an election, then we have six GOP House members celebrating the 4th of July in Moscow, and now we have Rand Paul cavorting with the guy at the heart of the Mueller investigation promising to fight against any more sanctions.

It's like the movie Invasion of the Body Snatcher only instead of snatching bodies, they snatch the very last shred of their integrity.

So I guess the Washington Republicans might as well drop the pretense and just go t-shirt shopping with these two idiots.

71% Chance of Democrats Taking the House, Correlation Between President’s Approval Rating & House Losses

    • Anonymous August 8, 2018 at 10:52 pm

Remember when all the ‘experts’ told you Hillary was going to run away with the election easy peasy, and that Trump had no chance? But at the end of the day he absolutely pummeled her campaign and easily won Electoral College hand over fist. It wasn’t even close.

Maybe you should start thinking for yourself instead of believing every ‘expert’ that only says what you desperately want to hear.

  2. Anonymous August 8, 2018 at 7:55 am

Remember when Randy was gonna vote against Pompeo, Trump’s pick for SOS…and then all of a sudden Trump claimed he had Randy by the balls on some sort of blackmail deal and all of a sudden…Randy did a complete flip and started sucking Trump’s political dick. Seems that Randy has done something that he doesn’t want revealed so he’s doing Putin’s bidding for Trump to keep that activity quiet. It’s pure and simple blackmail, thug tactics and Randy is acquiescing to it.

Are Donald Trump and Russia blackmailing Rand Paul?

‘Rand Paul publicly declared that he was voting against the Pompeo nomination in committee. That ensured the committee would vote Pompeo down, as the Republicans only have a one-vote majority on that committee. But today Paul announced that, after a phone call with Donald Trump, he’s now voting “yes” on Pompeo after all. This means Pompeo will become Secretary of State, as the Republicans have the fifty-one votes needed to confirm him in the upcoming full Senate vote. So what is Paul’s deal?

Why does Rand Paul keep taking these supposedly principled stands against the worst proposals made by his own party, only to quickly cave for no apparent reason? It raises questions of whether Paul may be trying to use these tactics to get Trump and the party to give him personal favors, or if perhaps Trump might be using his Russian connections to blackmail Paul into changing his mind. After all, we know that Russian hackers targeted several presidential candidates in the 2016 election, from both parties, in an effort to clear a path for Trump. Paul was one of those candidates.’

Donald Trump hints that he really is blackmailing Rand Paul

Yesterday, after Republican Senator Rand Paul suddenly flip flopped his vote on Donald Trump’s Mike Pompeo nomination without giving any reason, which wasn’t the first time Trump had gotten Paul to flip flop in this kind of manner, Palmer Report asked if Trump might be blackmailing him. Now Trump is hinting that he really did blackmail Rand Paul.

…During a joint press conference today, a reporter asked Donald Trump about his troubled nomination of Ronny Jackson. Trump responded by bragging that he managed to pull off the Mike Pompeo nomination, even after the headcount made it look like it was going to fail. Trump said he called Rand Paul and was able to change his mind because “I knew things that nobody else knew.”

…But the most straightforward is that Trump was able to get Rand Paul to flip flop on the Pompeo nomination because Trump knew all along that he could hold something over Paul’s head when the time came. If so, the “President” of the United States is using material stolen by Russian hackers to blackmail a U.S. Senator into changing his vote.

WikiLeaks: Senate Wants Julian Assange to Testify About Russia, and It Just Might Happen

The Senate Intelligence Committee wants WikiLeaks publisher Julian Assange to appear before them to testify regarding Russian election interference as part of their ongoing investigation, according to a letter shared by WikiLeaks’ verified Twitter account.

“As you are aware, the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence is conducting a bipartisan inquiry into Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. elections,” the letter addressed to Assange says. “As part of that inquiry, the Committee requests that you make yourself available for a closed interview with bipartisan Committee staff at a mutually agreeable time and location.”

OT-fyi Axios>”Rep. Christopher Collins (R-NY), one of the first members of Congress to support President Trump, was arrested on Wednesday morning for “charges tied to securities fraud,” NBC News reports.

The details: Collins surrendered himself to the FBI earlier on Wednesday. He’s being charged along with his son, Cameron Collins, and and his son’s fiancée’s father, Stephen Zarsky. The case is related to Australian biotech company Innate Immunotherapeutics Limited, of which the congressman was on the Board of Directors, the indictment states.”
“Collins is expected to appear in federal court in New York later on Wednesday, NBC reports.
The congressman’s attorneys said in a statement, per NBC: “We will answer the charges filed against Congressman Collins in Court and will mount a vigorous defense to clear his good name. … We are confident he will be completely vindicated and exonerated.”
Speaker Paul Ryan announced that Collins would be removed from the House Energy and Commerce Committee until the matter is settled and face an investigation from the House Ethics Committee.
    The charges:

Christopher Collins: 7 counts of securities fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, and making false statements.
Cameron Collins: 7 counts of securities fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, and making false statements.
Stephen Zarksy: 4 counts of securities fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, and making false statements.

“Collins was already under investigation by the House Ethics Committee for nearly a year, so his problems were known, but now that he has gone criminal, the race for his House seat has turned into an opportunity for Democrats.
Collins is one of the richest people in CONgress, so it is expected that he will use GOB$ of his personal wealth to fend off any challenge to his seat” <Freeze his MonEy.

Manchild in the Oval Office: Trump is the mayhem president who is destroying the country

…How about Mayhem, the character played by Dean Winters in all those TV commercials for Allstate Insurance? In each of the iconic ads, Mayhem sows chaos. He’s the source of all the wretched things that beset automobile and home owners: a distracted teenage driver, baseball-sized hail pounding on your car, a raccoon in the attic chewing power cables, and lately, an obstinate child ring bearer who swallows a couple’s wedding bands.

Mayhem is our president, a manchild at the wheel, a raccoon gnawing at the nation’s wires, a walking calamity that lurks around every corner.

‘QAnon’ Is About Much More than Trump — It Reveals the Deep Pathologies of the Republican Party
If you’re not a believer, you will have difficulty understanding how anyone can believe such a patently ridiculous confabulation.

The political movement swirling around President Donald Trump — formerly known as the Republican Party — displays certain unique features but is really just the latest noxious excrescence of the American right. Like so many of its predecessors, the Trump movement is built on fear. And like every movement motivated by paranoia, its followers are mentally vulnerable to the most idiotic conspiracy theories.

Not surprisingly, since everything about Trump is always the “biggest” and the “best,” his fans are flocking to a truly enormous and enormously deluded conspiracy known as QAnon, or simply, “Q.”

“the president is putting to use his same old box of tools developed during a lifetime of legal squabbles in New York City: trying to talk or cooperate his way out of things. But while he’s using the old tactics he once employed over a real estate fight, he’s also on unfamiliar turf, where the stakes of the investigation stretch far beyond any barrier he ever encountered in his business life.”
“Trump’s belief in his central self-created myth: that he can convince anyone of anything, if he’s simply given the opportunity to get them in a room alone.”OK?! “In the 1980s, when Trump expanded his real estate holdings into Atlantic City, he played the same game. His first partners along the boardwalk had ties to the Mafia, relationships that were complicating his licensing deals. On his own, Trump decided to approach the FBI and tell it he was willing to be an informant — once again, trying to assume the role of victim.”
“Goldberg said he has spoken to Trump only three times since his former client entered the White House. In those conversations, he has advised the president on lawyers to hire, and said he warned Trump that his former attorney Michael Cohen, who is himself under federal investigation over his business dealings, was “not the type to be able to withstand the pressures of jail.””

Trump is letting members of his private resort club — who have no experience in the military or government — secretly call the shots at the Department of Veterans Affairs.

In an unprecedented occurrence that makes a mockery out of transparency and accountability, three Trump cronies with no experience in government or the military are secretly exerting “sweeping influence” over the troubled Department of Veterans Affairs.

The shadowy triumvirate is made up of a reclusive movie studio executive, a private attorney, and a Palm Beach doctor who helps his wealthy clients obtain “concierge” medical care.

All three men are members of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago private Florida resort club. And together they “they have leaned on VA officials and steered policies affecting millions of Americans,” according to a shocking new report from ProPublica.

In other words, Trump has essentially given three private citizens control of the VA, forcing government officials to answer to men with no experience in veterans’ affairs — and men who are not being held publicly accountable for their actions.

“The arrangement is without parallel in modern presidential history,” ProPublica notes. The men “have remained hidden except to a few VA insiders, who have come to call them “the Mar-a-Lago Crowd.” One former administration official tells that ProPublica that VA executives have to go down to Mar-a-Lago to “kiss the ring” of the three men.

“None of these people were confirmed by the Senate, none have even interviewed for jobs,” complains Will Fischer, Iraq war veteran and director of government relations for VoteVets, in a statement to Shareblue Media. “To put veterans care in their hands, when they’re often only trying to benefit themselves and their families, is malfeasance. It is now up to Secretary [Robert] Wilkie to clean house, and make sure that the people working on veterans care, for the administration, have actually been approved by the Senate to do so.”

By all indications, the three Trump cronies — Marvel Entertainment Chairman and CEO Isaac “Ike” Perlmutter, Palm Beach doctor Bruce Moskowitz, and lawyer Marc Sherman — are doing a disastrous job, as the VA reels under Trump. Indeed, perhaps no government agency has suffered as much from Trump’s incompetent leadership than has the VA.

In May, New York Times documented the “chaos” that has engulfed the VA under Trump, and particularly its medical system. As he has “plunged the department into turmoil,” doctors are burning out and veterans are being left behind.

Sen. Bill Nelson: Russians have ‘already penetrated’ Florida election systems and have ‘free reign to move about’

Russian operatives have “penetrated” some of Florida’s election systems ahead of the 2018 midterms, Sen. Bill Nelson said Wednesday, adding new urgency about hacking.

“They have already penetrated certain counties in the state and they now have free rein to move about,” Nelson told the Tampa Bay Times. He said something similar a day earlier in Tallahassee but declined to elaborate.

The Florida senator made the remarks to the Tampa Bay Times on Wednesday. “They have already penetrated certain counties in the state and they now have free rein to move about,” Nelson explained.

The senator declined to provide details, noting that specifics were “classified.”

“We were requested by the chairman and vice chairman of Intelligence Committee to let supervisors of election in Florida know that the Russians are in their records,” Nelson remarked. “This is no fooling.””<Rawstory

This is how the psychological impact of Trump’s anger warps the worldview of his supporters and opponents

…Trump routinely uses rhetoric that incites anger in Americans on both sides of the political spectrum. For his supporters, his anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim rhetoric instills them with anger towards their perceived enemies, while the same rhetoric enrages his critics, whose anger is directed at Trump himself for many of his unsupported claims and manipulative hyperbole. Additionally, Trump is constantly fueling anger towards the media and liberals whenever he feels he is being treated unfairly, which has become an almost daily occurrence.
