In secret recording Devin Nunes admits that Republicans need to maintain the majority in order to end or impede the Mueller investigation.

Courtesy of NBC News:

Asked about the impeachment plans, Nunes told a questioner that “it’s a bit complicated” because “we only have so many months left.”

“So if we actually vote to impeach, OK, what that does is that triggers the Senate then has to take it up,” he said on the recording. “Well, and you have to decide what you want right now because the Senate only has so much time.”

He continued: “Do you want them to drop everything and not confirm the Supreme Court justice, the new Supreme Court justice?”

“The Senate would have to drop everything they’re doing … and start with impeachment on Rosenstein. And then take the risk of not getting Kavanaugh confirmed,” Nunes said. “So it’s not a matter that any of us like Rosenstein. It’s a matter of, it’s a matter of timing.”

So the argument for not impeaching the Deputy Attorney General right now is because it might interfere with getting Trump’s Supreme Court nominee confirmed, and the argument given to fundraisers for helping the Republicans maintain their majority is so they can stop or at least impede the ongoing Mueller investigation.

I don’t think I have heard a much better reason for Democrats to turn out in mass numbers this election, than the one just given by Congressman Devin Nunes.

If we want justice we are going to have to fight for it at the ballot box.

Because these people are openly talking about their plans for obstructionism.

Update: Look who chimed in to make my point.

Republican Knew He Was Under Investigation When Alleged Insider Trade Occurred

…Collins was overheard by reporters speaking into a cellphone in the halls of Congress–and apparently bragging–about his golden touch vis-à-vis publicly-traded stocks. The congressman said, “Do you know how many millionaires I’ve made in Buffalo the past few months?”

Collins’ braggadocio appears to have been well-earned–if not particularly well-timed. As the Daily Beast’s Justin Glawe noted in an April 2017 article on the upstate New Yorker’s ties to Australia-based pharmaceutical company Innate, “Collins’s children, his chief of staff, and a score of campaign donors have bought into Innate, whose stock price has tripled since its initial offering in 2013.”

In sum, at least 16 people were brought into the Innate fold at a discount by way of Collins’ advocacy. That is, they bought Innate shares when it was relatively cheap and steadily saw their fortunes rise along with the stock. According to the indictment issued by the Southern District of New York (SDNY), at least eight individuals acted on the insider information allegedly provided by Collins. Most of those alleged co-conspirators are unnamed in the document.

Also noted in the indictment is a Collins email regarding press coverage specifically mentioning his close relations and their potential windfalls due to his position with Innate. He wrote, “We want this to go away.”

The bad press apparently took its toll. In response to multiple write-ups of Collins’ relationship with Innate, Representative Louise Slaughter (D-NY) asked the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to look into her colleague’s trading behavior. And the SEC worked in conjunction with the SDNY and FBI on the Collins indictment.

Hot Damn, Chris Collins Might Drag Another One Down With Him!

…Culberson is a good ole boy, a Trump supporter, and slicker than snot on a doorknob. Honey, he’s so crooked that when he dies, we’ll have to screw him in the ground.

Well, the tables just got tilted a little. Okay, maybe tilted is too tame a word. An elephant shot from a nuclear submarine landed on one end.

You’ve heard already that Republican Congressman Chris Collins was arrested for insider trading this morning.

Well, guess who is tighter than skin on a sausage with Collins?

      Our boy Culberson.

Laura Ingraham Condemned For Segment on U.S. ‘Demographic Changes’: It’s the ‘Swan Song of White Nationalism’

Ingraham was quickly and brutally condemned on Twitter, with countless pundits, journalists, and even U.S. congressmen blasting her.

Check out a few of the reactions below:

‘OMG. White nationalism spoken aloud and irreverently. Dog whistle for midterms.’

Historian Traces Laura Ingraham’s Racist Attack on Immigrants: Echoes ‘Racial Citizenship Laws That Took Root in Nazi Germany’
The host made open and chilling racist comments during her Wednesday broadcast.

…”This bears strong echoes of the racist screeds of the 1910s and 1920s that paved the way for the rise of the Second Ku Klux Klan and immigration restriction at home, and much worse abroad,” he wrote.

“The Ku Klux Klan used this popular panic over immigration to revive itself as a national organization in the 1920s,” Kruse continued.

He discussed a Grand Dragon meeting in 1923 that “focused a great deal on the supposed demographic threat that new immigration posed to old-stock Americans and the need to crack down on it.

Kruse then explained how America helped the Nazis form their ideology through racist legislation.

“The popular panic over immigration, and the pseudo-scientific justifications for nativism and racism, came together in the push for the National Origins Act of 1924, a measure that drastically reduced immigration from SE Europe and banned Asians from immigrating entirely,” Kruse explains.

This law “served as a model for the racial citizenship laws that took root in Nazi Germany a decade later.”

Kruse concludes with a warning: “We need to remember that, a century ago, unhinged fear-mongering about “demographic changes” in the American population led not just to drastic immigration restrictions at home, but to disastrous horrors abroad.”

Laura Ingraham’s Anti-Immigrant Rant Was So Racist It Was Endorsed by Ex-KKK Leader David Duke

Laura Ingraham Whines About ‘Demographic Change,’ Twitter Responds

Laura Ingraham Racially Attacks Legal Immigration on Live TV

“In some parts of the country, it does seem like the America that we know and love doesn’t exist anymore. Massive demographic changes have been foisted upon the American people, and they are changes that none of us ever voted for, and most of us don’t like.”

“From Virginia to California, we see stark examples of how radically, in some ways, the country’s changed. Much of this is related to both illegal and — in some cases — legal immigration that, of course, progressives love.”

America has always been considered a melting pot, and our forefathers never intended to bar immigrants of certain “demographics”, so these claims by Ingraham are at the very least misinformed, if not blatantly racist.

‘Not From Around Here’: GOP Rep Dog-Whistles Sharice Davids Right Before She Wins Primary

Just in case Kansas Republican Kevin Yoder was going to have to run against an Indigenous, LGBQT woman, he wanted to make sure everyone knew how low he’d be willing to sink to defeat her. Before all the votes were even tallied in Tuesday night’s primary for Kansas’ 3rd Congressional District, Rep. Yoder lobbed this claim against Davids (and one of his other potential opponents, Brent Welder):

“[N]either of them are from around here, and both want to force their radical ideas on those of use who have dedicated our entire lives to this community and this state….[They] don’t know Kansas. They don’t know our values.”

Um…Sharice Davids is an Indiginous woman who is a member of the Ho-Chunk Nation. She is soooooooo “from around here.” Way more “from around here” than Yoder’s Irish, German, English ass is.

She doesn’t know “our values?” Is that because she is LGBQT? Or because she knows how to work her way up from community college to Cornell Law School? I don’t know, Congressman. Which one of you took a taxpayer-funded trip to Israel to “learn more about the Holy Land” with 30 of your colleagues only to get drunk and skinny dip in the Sea of Galilee with 20 of them?

Listen, most of us know dog-whistles when we hear them. Rep. Yoder just happened to pick the absolutely worst person in the world target with them. An indigenous, LGBQT, Mixed-Martial-Arts Fighter, brilliant and principled woman is most definitely from around here. And Kansas should be proud of it. Yoder votes with Trump 92% of the time. Oh, Sharice Davids knows his values. We ALL know his values. Davids just doesn’t SHARE them. Let’s hope the majority of voting people in Kansas’ 3rd District don’t, either.

Sharice Davids, the attorney and former professional mixed martial arts fighter who won the Democratic nomination for a House seat in Kansas on Tuesday, is the latest potentially history-making candidate in 2018’s midterm elections.

Fox News prime time ditches the dogwhistles, airs blatantly racist segments

      They’re deploying foghorns.

Ingraham basically blamed brown people for ruining the country she once loved. Her remarks bear more than a passing resemblance to the notorious white supremacist “14 Words” slogan about how “we must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children,” and were praised by former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke on Twitter.

But Ingraham’s blatantly racist sentiment has been expressed more than once during Fox News’ prime-time programming this summer. While discussing immigration policy in June, Tucker Carlson — host of that show that begins two hours before Ingraham’s — advised his viewers that “no matter what they tell you, this isn’t about helping children. A lot of people yelling at you on TV don’t even have kids, so don’t for a second let them take moral high ground. Their goal is to change your country forever.”

…It’s not a coincidence that Trump’s rise has coincided with Fox News openly embracing white nationalism. And the phenomenon isn’t just apparent during the network’s prime-time shows.

Joe Scarborough: Devin Nunes, House Freedom Caucus Are Protecting Putin, Covering Up Russia’s Crimes

…As Kasie Hunt noted how the tape raises questions about whether the GOP as a whole will protect Trump “at all costs,” Scarborough compared the House Intelligence Committee chairman and members of the House Freedom Caucus to the “useful idiots” who would apologize for America during the Cold War.

“We Republicans excoriated them, called them useful idiots for always apologizing for the Russians and always being part of the blame America first crowd. Well, when you look at what leaders of the Freedom Caucus are doing, when you look at what Nunes is doing, I think we need to stop saying what they’re doing is trying to protect Donald Trump, because what they’re actually doing is they’re protecting Vladimir Putin and covering up more crimes that the United States military and Intel agencies are digging at right now. They’ve unearthed some of his crimes, they’re looking for more crimes, but you have Devin Nunes bragging about trying to stop the investigation against Putin and Russia’s interference in American democracy. It’s shameful.”

National security expert John Schindler: Trump should fear ‘assassination’ by Putin if he stops being valuable

‘…The Kremlin’s ability to harm President Trump should not be underestimated. Given the president’s longstanding ties to dubious Russians, a matter he has treated with the greatest secrecy, there’s no doubt that Putin possesses kompromat on Trump, including some of a sordid variety, to be released as needed. If the Kremlin believes that Trump has no chance of helping Russia anymore, they will sacrifice him to create ever-greater chaos in America and the West. Keep in mind that [Russian agent] Natalya Veselnitskaya’s bombshell interview this spring was only possible with Kremlin permission.’

Schindler concludes his column by raising the specter of assassination.

“President Trump has more than mere kompromat to worry about here,” he says. “Under Vladimir Putin, Russian intelligence has embarked on a global assassination spree of a kind not seen in the Kremlin since Stalin’s time… [L]ess than three years ago, Putin’s operatives murdered in the heart of our nation’s capital, just a mile from the White House.”

“That message was hard to miss,” he adds. “Robert Mueller can open the door to Donald Trump’s impeachment and prosecution. Vladimir Putin can do worse and does not need to play by any legal rules.”

Devin Nunes Admits Receiving Stolen Emails From Foreigners Is A Crime

This letter to Putin wasn’t interesting until Rand Paul and the White House disagreed about it

Paul previously claimed he was delivering a message to Putin on behalf of Trump.

…But Wednesday afternoon, the White House released a statement claiming instead that Paul had requested the letter, to introduce himself to Putin.

“At Senator Paul’s request, President Trump provided a letter of introduction,” White House spokesman Hogan Gidley said in a statement. “In the letter, the President mentioned topics of interest that Senator Paul wanted to discuss with President Putin.”

…The conflict between the two statements has left political analysts confused. Given Trump just met with Putin in Helsinki a few weeks ago, and the two have also shared private phone calls since then, it’s unclear why the U.S. president would need to communicate with Putin via letter.

As CNBC correspondent John Harwood noted, a letter of introduction for Paul doesn’t make much sense either, especially since Paul recently ran for president himself.

“According to Axios, which spoke with Giuliani this week, “There are two topics the president’s lawyers want to rule out in order to agree to a Trump sit-down with Mueller: Why Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, [and] what Trump said to Comey about the investigation of former national security adviser Michael Flynn.”

As the outlet notes, Giuliani suggested the two areas of exclusion as if they were extraneous details, unconnected with the special counsel’s investigation. In reality, questions about Comey and Flynn are the crux of Mueller’s entire probe into allegations of presidential obstruction.”

“Rudy is pushing and pulling Mueller, and every day throws more mud over the investigation.”

“Trump’s own intelligence officials have accused WikiLeaks of serving as a Kremlin cutout.”

There was some disturbing shit about the Kochs involvement in getting Kavanaugh nominated either on Maher or Oliver.
