So earlier today we get this report from WaPo:
A team of U.S. officials crossed into North Korea on Sunday for talks to prepare for a summit between President Trump and Kim Jong Un, as both sides press ahead with arrangements despite the question marks hanging over the meeting.
Sung Kim, a former U.S. ambassador to South Korea and former nuclear negotiator with the North, has been called in from his post as envoy to the Philippines to lead the preparations, according to a person familiar with the arrangements.
The talks are focused on what would be the substance of a potential summit between Trump and Kim — the issue of North Korea’s nuclear weapons program.
The meetings — which were confirmed Sunday by Heather Nauert, a State Department spokeswoman — are expected to continue Monday and Tuesday at Tongilgak, or “Unification House,” the building in the northern part of the demilitarized zone where Kim Jong Un met Moon on Saturday. Their impromptu talks were aimed at salvaging the summit that Trump said he was scuppering just two days earlier.
That report was then followed by this tweet from Trump:
Our United States team has arrived in North Korea to make arrangements for the Summit between Kim Jong Un and myself. I truly believe North Korea has brilliant potential and will be a great economic and financial Nation one day. Kim Jong Un agrees with me on this. It will happen!

As you may remember just last Thursday Trump got his fee-fees hurt because North Korea said some mean things about Mike Pence and John Bolton, and he was afraid they were going to cancel on him, so he canceled first.
But now he seems to have had a change of heart and wants to make nice again.
So WTF you might ask?
Russian President Vladimir Putin says North Korea had fulfilled its promises ahead of the planned summit between President Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un.
Trump canceled the summit on Thursday, citing “hostility” from North Korea.
But Putin said the North Korean leader “did everything that he had promised in advance, even blowing up the tunnels and shafts” of the country’s nuclear testing site. “After which, we heard about cancellation of the summit by the United States.”
Putin said: “In Russia, we took this news with regret, because we had very much counted on it being a significant step in sorting out the situation on the Korean peninsula and that it would be the beginning of the process of denuclearizing the whole Korean Peninsula.”
Almost immediately after that story hit the airwaves Trump started to backpedal.
Courtesy of CNBC:
President Donald Trump said Friday that his administration has restarted dialogue with North Korea following his cancellation of a historic summit, with the president suggesting that a meeting between the two countries could even take place on the originally scheduled date.
After days of fiery remarks from North Korea that appeared to suggest the country would not give up its nuclear arsenal, Trump abruptly canceled the summit in a letter released on Thursday. The cancellation took South Korea by surprise and left officials in Seoul scrambling to contain the fallout.
However, Trump left the door open to a meeting in the future, and on Friday hinted that the lines of communication remained open.
“We’ll see what happens. We’re talking to them now,” he told reporters as he left the White House on his way to speak at the U.S. Naval Academy graduation. The president added that the scrapped meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un “could” still happen.
Late Friday, Trump said the two sides were engaged in “very productive” discussions, and a Singapore rapprochement might still be in the cards.
Now the official narrative will be that Trump was simply using hard negotiating tactics and knew all along that the summit would go forward, but don’t you believe it.
We always have to keep in mind that Donald Trump DOES NOT WORK FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.
Donald Trump works for this guy.
And this guy clearly was not consulted before Trump unilaterally pulled out of this North Korea summit.
So besides that public dressing down, I imagine there was a couple of phone calls, and lo and behold the summit is once again back on.
If you do not think my take on this is accurate go ahead and ask yourself when Trump did NOT soften his approach, attempt to block sanctions or curl up like a beaten dog after learning of Putin’s displeasure.
You go ahead, I will sit right here and wait.
