House Democrats want the Parkland students to intern for them and work on gun violence.

Not a bad idea.

Courtesy of NBC News:

Student survivors of gun violence descended on Washington en masse earlier this year during the massive March for Our Lives on March 24. Now some lawmakers would like to bring them back for an entire summer.

House Democrats are inviting students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida — who survived a mass school shooting in February — to come intern in their offices, working on gun violence prevention.

“We think it would be a great experience for them to be on the Hill to see exactly how things operate — or doesn’t, to some degree — but also to have time with these very special young people that have experienced something that none of us ever want to have experienced and I think we can learn from each other,” House Democratic Caucus Chairman Joe Crowley, who is helping lead the effort, told NBC News.

Well to be fair if ANYBODY is going to get any legislation moving forward on gun violence it is going to be these kids.

So in that respect, this makes good sense.

The only downside I can see is that once they are identified as strictly Democrats it is quite likely the Republicans will simply shut them out and they will lose a little of their bipartisan cred.

But then again, which Republicans are REALLY going to listen to them anyhow?

So, they might as well go for it.

Besides it will be good training for when some of THEM inevitably run for office in the future. Because you just KNOW that’s coming.

Big news: Wiretaps of Junior with the Russian Godfather of money laundering.

    • Anonymous May 26, 2018 at 6:06 am

“The FBI has obtained secret wiretaps collected by Spanish police of conversations involving Alexander Torshin, a deputy governor of Russia’s Central Bank who has forged close ties with U.S. lawmakers and the National Rifle Association, that led to a meeting with Donald Trump Jr. during the gun lobby’s annual convention in Louisville, Ky., in May 2016, a top Spanish prosecutor said Friday.”

Fancis’ latest comments suggest that — contrary to his 2013 remark — he’s remaining on the side of discrimination.”

““The limitations on H-2B visas were originally meant to protect American workers, but when we enter a situation where the program unintentionally harms American businesses it needs to be reformed,” DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said in a statement.” ” will make available an additional 15,000 H-2B visas, meant for temporary NON-agricultural workers”<OK

FUCK THE NRA>” On Thursday, the National Rifle Association released a video arguing that journalists are more responsible for school gun violence than the ease of access to guns: “Over-reporting on school shootings inspires other shooters. … Ignoring shooters and not giving them any attention will do more to stop school shootings than any gun control measure ever will.”
“in the early 20th-century, when the country was plagued by a rise in gun violence by organized gangs, the NRA pointed the finger at automobiles, not guns. The NRA also argued at the time that because criminals already did not follow the law, it was nonsensical to pass controls that in any way impeded the average person from acquiring a firearm. From this point onward the gun rights mantra “punish criminals, not firearms” was forever etched into America’s political discourse.”
1960s>”In addition to advancing the mantras “punish criminals, not firearms” and “firearms education, not firearms legislation,” the NRA claimed the real problem was changes in American values and culture along with a failed criminal justice system that was too lenient on crime.” ” In a 1968 editorial that appeared in the American Rifleman, the NRA claimed that “never before in the long history of mankind has the human mind been subjected to the explosive effect of so much violence, viciousness and depravity before its eyes” or have the “goriest crimes been projected into the American home in gruesome detail as news, and then warmed over to regale as ‘entertainment’ in fiction form.” The NRA urged “communications media” to “make an immediate contribution … toward reducing violence” by “refraining from sensationalism.””It began following the 1966 mass shooting at the University of Texas, where Charles Whitman took an arsenal of firearms to the observation deck of the main building tower and over a period of about 90 minutes shot and killed 16 people. “”having disclosed his propensity for violence to a psychiatrist” To the NRA, these facts indicated that the American people were wrong to focus on guns and should instead focus on the “early identification, cure, and treatment of 2½ million mentally ill.” “Certainly the time is at hand to seek means by which society can identify, treat, and temporarily isolate such individuals,” wrote the NRA in a 1966 edition of American Rifleman.”

Pussy Riot in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday night>Young people are not blind—they see the injustice.
‘Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova on transgender inclusion, finding hope in dark times, and what Vladimir Putin has in common with Donald Trump.’ “It is very different town to town, but I would say it’s really inspirational, because we were able to connect with different political groups. We were trying to connect in every place with a local political organization.””we call it an event, more like political events or rallies. We’re just traveling and talking to people, building connections with like-minded people in America.”

“Just a few weeks before the 2016 election, the group released “Make America Great Again,” a strangely sexualized depiction of the types of women Trump hates. At one point during Pussy Riot’s D.C. event, one of the last dates of a North American tour that began in March, the sentence “My president replaced his dick with an ICBM” scrolled across the screen—a universal sentiment if ever there were one.”

“we read about Cecily McMillan, who supposedly elbowed a police officer who grabbed her by the breast while arresting her. At the time she was facing up to seven years in jail, and it shocked us, because we were facing up to seven years in jail for the song that we made. So we jumped on a plane from Washington to New York and we came to see Cecily in Rikers Island. And there, we were shocked by the fact that we were, me and my colleagues, the only white people in the line of visitors. The rest of them were Latinos and black people. And I understood then how much racial segregation is still very much the case in America.”

“maybe in the next 10 years we are seeing more and more people growing up who spent all their life with Vladimir Putin. They will see that he actually didn’t bring anything he promised to bring, like stability, economic prosperity. He brought just extreme inequality, grotesque amount of corruption on all levels. From police stations to the highest level of government. Young people are not blind—they see the injustice. And that gives me hope.” #meToo

“In another episode of Twitter Tantrums with Trump, the deranged president actually said that Democrats are responsible for “the horrible law that separates children from [their] parents once they cross the Border into the U.S.””rump misspelled the tweet”

‘Put pressure on the Democrats to end the horrible law that separates children from there parents once they cross the Border into the U.S. Catch and Release, Lottery and Chain must also go with it and we MUST continue building the WALL! DEMOCRATS ARE PROTECTING MS-13 THUGS.
    5:59 AM – May 26, 2018’

“According to the LA Times, under the pre-Trump policy, agents at the border tried “to keep family units together by sending all members to the same family detention facility.”

Now, after the administration’s new rule went into effect, “parents will be PROSECUTED and children sent to a separate refugee facility, the official said,””

“. He simply knows that attacking undocumented immigrants – even their children – is a winning strategy for him.”
‘Donald Trump knows he struck political gold in his immigration message. His ability to convince angry white voters that all of their troubles should be pinned on voiceless brown people – that’s the reason he sits in the White House today. It’s also the reason that 30-35 percent of the country will stand by him no matter what he says and does.’
