Former Republican governor calls on Donald Trump to “step down.”

I have been waiting for this.

President Trump’s disgraceful performance in Helsinki, Finland, and in the days since is an indication that he is not fit to remain in office. Trump’s 2016 “America First” platform might be more aptly named “Russia First” after the disaster that occurred last week.

Trump’s turn toward Russia is indefensible. I am a lifelong Republican. I have campaigned and won as a member of the party, and I have served more than one Republican president. My Republican colleagues — once rightfully critical of President Obama’s engagement strategy with Russian leader Vladimir Putin — have to end their willful ignorance of the damage Trump is doing both domestically and internationally. We must put aside the GOP label, as hard as that may be, and demonstrate the leadership our country needs by calling on the president to step down.

Trump’s sycophantic relationship with Putin is unsurprising given his previous comments about Russia and its dictator. What is shocking is how long he has possessed — and disregarded — hard evidence of Putin’s direct role in undermining our elections. According to New York Times reporting, he saw dispositive emails and texts early in January 2017.

Trumps’ repeated public dismissals of the intelligence coming from his own deputies is deeply disturbing. Along with his walk back of statements last week, and then walking back the walk backs, it’s impossible to keep up, and his behavior warrants a fresh evaluation of whether the president can be trusted with the future of the United States. His apologists will argue that the current outcry is just another attempt by moderates and “establishment” Republicans to discredit the president. But what does this man have to say or do for his supporters to finally see that his actions are detrimental to the country?

Damn this is music to my ears.

Here’s hoping that there are more Republicans willing to follow suit.

Ivanka Trump Shuts Down Her Clothing Line After Sales Plummet

…The Ivanka Trump clothing line sales skyrocketed during the 2016 election but plunged as the backlash grew after her father took office. The Journal reported that Ivanka was frustrated with White House rules put in place to avoid conflicts of interest, so she shut the clothing line down.

To put it another way, sales were dropping, and Ivanka could not easily use the White House to profit by selling her clothes, she decided to shut the brand down instead of behaving in a responsible and ethical manner.

Andrea Mitchell hits Trump for claiming Russia backs Democrats: ‘We’re in serious Alice in Wonderland territory’

…Former CIA officer Ned Price pointed out that Trump is “half right.”

“We have to hand it to President Trump, we have a comedian in chief on our hands,” Price explained. “He is half right in that we know the Russians are going after the midterms. We have heard that.”

“We’ve heard that from all the intelligence officials,” Mitchell observed.

“But we also know that what’s given Vladimir Putin the green light to do that is Donald Trump himself,” Price added. “Had Donald Trump been forceful in his interactions, not just Helsinki last week but his multiple interactions, his phone calls with Vladimir Putin, had he been forceful and passionate and said, ‘We know what you’re up to, we will not countenance this, this will not stand, I think there would be a much greater chance that the Russians would stand down if they knew the consequences.”

“But what Donald Trump very clearly signaled to Vladimir Putin again last week as he’s done in his previous interactions is that there will be no consequences, that this is open season for you, because I am president and I will side with you over my own intelligence community,” he concluded.

Trump rallies supporters to ignore reality: ‘Just remember what you’re seeing… is not happening’

Donald Trump told a group of veterans on Tuesday not to believe their eyes when it came to his presidential actions.

While speaking to the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Kansas City, Trump lashed out at what he calls “fake news.”

“It’s amazing. They are doing a number, just stick with us,” Trump ranted. “Don’t believe what you see from these people in the fake news.”

“Don’t believe that crap you see from these people, the fake news,” he said, pointing to the journalists in the audience.

After a raucous round of applause, Trump called CNN “the worst,” and then he alleged that NBC’s reporting is created “by the lobbyists and by the people that they hire.”

“Just remember, what you are seeing and what you are reading is not what’s happening,” he said.

Ahhh yes, Trump is learning the propaganda game nicely. “Don’t believe your eyes and ears, or your bank account. But you can trust me!” Too bad Joseph Goebbels killed himself and all his children. His descendants would make a lovely addition to Trump’s PR team. In Trump’s America, immigrants are the new Jews.

I,appreciate her sentiment, but few Republicans will be willing to follow her. Asking Trump to step down will do little good. Wanna-be dictators don’t step down.

Facebook, YouTube Seem Fine With Alex Jones Making Death Threats, Sex Crime Claims
The “Infowars” host points a finger gun at special counsel Robert Mueller and calls him “a demon I will take down.”

Right-wing provocateur Alex Jones’ latest video, now circulating on YouTube and Facebook, accuses special counsel Robert Mueller of covering up sex crimes and threatens him with death. Neither of the media platforms seems to have a problem with Jones’ incendiary rant.

…Jones said he’d “take down” Mueller or “die trying,” adding that Mueller was “going to get it.”

“I look at that guy, and he’s a sack of crap. That’s a demon I will take down, or I’ll die trying. So that’s it. It’s going to happen, we’re going to walk out in the square, politically, at high noon, and he’s going to find out whether he makes a move man, make the move first, and then it’s going to happen,” said Jones, miming shooting a gun.

Threatening violence against a federal official is a felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

What pisses me off about republicans is they can’t give a realistic
asessmment of the nightmare that is Trump without bashing President
Obama. I heard nothing about W “looking into Putin’s heart” from the ex-governor.
Basically, republicans are all full of shit. They watched their party
fall into chaos, but they didn’t care as long as the chaos was directed at the last
president. Now we all are standing up knee deep in the crap.

The thing that was so terrible to many people about Obama’s presidency is that he’s half-black. The poor and uneducated whites thought that having a black man in office was the height of tyranny.

I’m of the opinion that Barack Obama will be our generation’s Martin Luther King. Many whites were not pleased at all with MLK and his fight during his lifetime. If you read about early black civil rights leaders, especially those who were lawyers, there are remarkable paralella in how they behave compared with how Barack Obama acted during presidency. They knew they had to be twice as good as a white person, and they’d still only get half the credit. They couldn’t afford to make mistakes and had to be as uncontroversial as possible. They didn’t have the luxury of complaining about racism to white voters.

I think deep down, many who hate him know what he is. He’s more than earned his place in history. They won’t even come close and that pisses them off.

Biographer David Cay Johnston reveals that Russia has amassed a 30-year trove of compromising dirt on Trump

Johnston has been following Trump’s financial dealings for many years, and wrote a biography of Trump. Johnston says that there are no shortage of compromising facts that would be revealed by looking deeply into the president’s financial dealings.

“We know the Russians have been courting Donald, spending money on him and putting money in his pocket for more than 30 years,” he said. “Donald’s son, one of his sons, has said they were getting lots of money from Russians, and he’d been deeply involved with deals… with Russian gangsters.”

The issue is that there is so much kompromat out there that Trump couldn’t even keep track of it all, Johnston said. There are deep ties between Trump, Russian oligarchs and Russian gangsters.

“He believes in his own mind he’s better than the rest of us, and he should be in charge for life,” he said. “But donald also knows that his tax returns are a real problem…. Russian money is very important to Donald’s position. And explains why when he has no money and he had no credit, he was flush with cash through all sorts of deals as well as being bailed out a few years ago.”
