Former lawyer has tapes of Donald Trump talking about paying off Playboy model.

Yeah, we’re going to need a lot more popcorn for this.

Courtesy of NYT:

President Trump’s longtime lawyer, Michael D. Cohen, secretly recorded a conversation with Mr. Trump two months before the presidential election in which they discussed payments to a former Playboy model who said she had an affair with Mr. Trump, according to lawyers and others familiar with the recording.

The F.B.I. seized the recording this year during a raid on Mr. Cohen’s office. The Justice Department is investigating Mr. Cohen’s involvement in paying women to tamp down embarrassing news stories about Mr. Trump ahead of the 2016 election. Prosecutors want to know whether that violated federal campaign finance laws, and any conversation with Mr. Trump about those payments would be of keen interest to them.

The recording’s existence further draws Mr. Trump into questions about tactics he and his associates used to keep aspects of his personal and business life a secret. And it highlights the potential legal and political danger that Mr. Cohen represents to Mr. Trump. Once the keeper of many of Mr. Trump’s secrets, Mr. Cohen is now seen as increasingly willing to consider cooperating with prosecutors.

Rudy Giuliani is spinning this as proof that Trump had no prior knowledge of the payments.

I believe that the recordings also prove that black is white, and up is most certainly down.

All I know for sure is that I REALLY want to hear what is on this recording.

Former Staffers Liken Trump’s White House to a Puppy that Shat on the Floor and Spread It All Over

…Then, for the coup de grâce, the second former official added, “You have a lot of people who are just a bunch of small-timers and clowns, so when they fuck up a response, you almost can’t blame them because you knew what you were getting, you know? When you have people who suck at this and then they f*ck up a response, you can’t really be angry. This is what you have. It’s like having a puppy that shi*s on the floor, you can’t get angry at the puppy. The puppy doesn’t know any better.”

“I guess it’s like the puppy shat on the floor, and then they took the shit and they rubbed it all over the walls.”

There you go, citizens. Your president and his “all the best people” handling the red button are “small-timers and clowns” – a puppy sh*tting on the floor and then wiping it everywhere.

I mean, what did you expect.

I would only add that the puppy is working for the mafia, and pocketing a lot of taxpayer cash to sh*t everywhere.

We were promised that someone competent could manage Trump. So far, that’s not working out any better than it did during the campaign and for that matter, for Trump’s entire life. That is to say, no one can successfully stop this puppy from sh*tting all over the floor and spreading it everywhere. He’s a spoiled, entitled brat with deep insecurities, a longing to be a dictator and an entire party holding all of the check power willing to enable him.

The Rebellion Against Trump Grows As Conservative Columnist Says He Would Take Obama Back In A Nanosecond

Conservative columnist Max Boot who worked on the Republican campaigns of 2008 and 2012 wrote that he would take Obama back in a nanosecond over Trump.

‘…Now I would take Obama back in a nanosecond. His presidency appears to be a lost golden age when reason and morality reigned. All of his faults, real as they were, fade into insignificance compared with the crippling defects of his successor. And his strengths — seriousness, dignity, intellect, probity, dedication to ideals larger than self — shine all the more clearly in retrospect.

Conservatives accused Obama of hating America and going on an “apology tour.” Obama never claimed, however, that poor relations with Russia were the fault of “U.S. foolishness and stupidity” rather than Russian wrongdoing. Obama may have been naive in trying to “reset” relations with Moscow, but he did not say that Russian President Vladimir Putin is a “fine” person — and he did not endorse the Russian’s lies over the truths unearthed by the U.S. intelligence community. The Iran nuclear deal was flawed, but it was infinitely stronger than the non-agreement Trump reached with North Korea. Obama even looks like a fiscal conservative compared with Trump, who is ushering in trillion-dollar deficits.’

    How I miss Obama

…Those thoughts are prompted by watching Obama’s speech in South Africa on the 100th anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s birth. I was moved nearly to tears by his eloquent defense of a liberal world order that President Trump appears bent on destroying.

The first thing that struck me was what was missing: There was no self-praise and no name-calling. Obama has a far better claim than Trump to being a “very stable genius,” but he didn’t call himself one. The sentences were complete and sonorous — and probably written by the speaker himself. (Imagine Trump writing anything longer than a tweet — and even those are full of mistakes.) The tone was sober and high-minded, even if listeners could read between the lines a withering critique of Trump’s policies.

Obama denounced the “politics of fear and resentment,” the spread of “hatred and paranoia and propaganda and conspiracy theories,” and “immigration policies based on race, or ethnicity, or religion.” Gee, wonder who he had in mind? He rightly noted that “we now stand at a crossroads — a moment in time at which two very different visions of humanity’s future compete for the hearts and minds of citizens around the world.” He then rejected the dark vision propagated by Trump and the dictators he so admires.

“I believe in Nelson Mandela’s vision,” Obama said. “I believe in a vision shared by Gandhi and King and Abraham Lincoln. I believe in a vision of equality and justice and freedom and multiracial democracy, built on the premise that all people are created equal, and they’re endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights. And I believe that a world governed by such principles is possible and that it can achieve more peace and more cooperation in pursuit of a common good.” Even though I was thousands of miles away, I felt like cheering those stirring words.

Ex-Republican columnist who attacked Obama for 8 years writes apology after less than 2 years of Trump

Boot even admits that he recently cried while watching an Obama speech.

“It can be depressing to think about our current predicament under a president whose loyalty to America is suspect but whose racism and xenophobia are undoubted,” he writes. “However, Obama’s speech gave me a glimmer of optimism… we had a president with whom I could disagree without ever doubting his fitness to lead. We can have one again.”

Kimberly Guilfoyle Did Not Leave Fox News Voluntarily, Sources Say: Scoop
Sources have told HuffPost about the host’s departure from the network.

Kimberly Guilfoyle Reportedly Forced Out of Fox News and Set to Campaign with Boyfriend Don Jr.

Reports of “The Five” co-host being shown the door swirled for hours on Friday as Fox News publicists remained mum. Late in the day, a Fox News spokesperson emailed reporters a short statement: “FOX News has parted ways with Kimberly Guilfoyle.”

HuffPost’s Yashar Ali reported that, according to three sources, Guilfoyle did not leave Fox News voluntarily. He added that a fourth source close to Guilfoyle, 49, and Trump Jr., 40, said the departure was her decision. HuffPost also reported that Guilfoyle’s team is in “separation negotiations now.”

ABC News producer John Santucci also reported in a tweet that Guilfoyle is expected to take a role with America First, according to sources familiar with the situation.

GOP Senators Begin To Push Back On Trump’s Migrant Family Separations

…But on Friday, 10 GOP senators signed onto a letter with their Democratic colleagues urging the Trump administration to “use all available resources currently at its disposal to reunite families as soon as possible.”

“From this point forward, the default position of the United States of America is to keep families together,” the bipartisan letter states. “Enforcement of our immigration laws should be a high priority, but we must also adhere to our core moral values as Americans.”

The letter is signed by Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Michael Bennet (D-CO), James Lankford (R-OK), Chris Coons (D-DE), Susan Collins (R-ME), Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Angus King (I-ME), James Inhofe (R-OK), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Jerry Moran (R-KS), Joe Donnelly (D-IN), Cory Gardner (R-CO), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Steve Daines (R-MT), Tom Carper (D-DE), Thom Tillis (R-NC), Gary Peters (D-MI), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Maggie Hassan (D-NH), Tina Smith (D-MN), Bill Nelson (D-FL), Ben Cardin (D-MD), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND), and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD).

Murkowski added in a separate statement that U.S. immigration policy must be “more effective, appropriate and humane” and called the mass separations a “sad chapter in our nation’s history.”

Though the letter falls far short of legislative action or subpoenas for administration officials to testify, it’s an indication that some Republicans in Congress are losing patience with the Trump administration’s uneven, foot-dragging compliance with court orders to reunite the separated families.

Here is the full text of the letter:

Trump Admin: More Than A Third Of Migrant Children ‘Ineligible’ For Reunification

With the deadline for reuniting thousands of separated immigrant families less than a week away, the the Trump administration revealed in a federal court filing late Thursday night that it plans to reunite just about 60 percent of the children between ages 5-17 that are in its custody. The rest — just over 900 — have been labeled ‘ineligible’ for reunification, because the parent either has a criminal record, is undergoing ‘further evaluation,’ or waived their right to be reunified.

INFOGRAPHIC: Alleged Russian Agent Mariia Butina’s Influence Operation

Alleged Russian agent Mariia Butina was indicted this week on two very serious charges: conspiring against the U.S. and acting as an unregistered foreign agent.

But the influence campaign Butina allegedly carried out over the past few years was so brazen that it was almost comical. The 29-year-old essentially made her very own “Where’s Waldo?” series out of the 2016 GOP presidential campaign.

Butina was captured on camera at a 2015 Las Vegas libertarian convention asking then-candidate Donald Trump about U.S. sanctions. She popped up at NRA events throughout the Midwest and at the National Prayer Breakfast in D.C. On the day of President Trump’s inauguration, Butina even sent a selfie to her alleged handler, Russian Central Bank official Alexander Torshin, of her beaming near the U.S. Capitol building.

Many of those interactions, like her run-ins with short-lived GOP candidates Bobby Jindal and Rick Santorum, were just embarrassing photo ops for those politicians she was allegedly targeting. But some of the connections—like her intimate relationship with GOP operative Paul Erickson and her association with former NRA president David Keene—were involved and forged over years.

As the Washington Post and others have documented, Russia used religion and guns to make inroads with the American conservative community. According to court documents, Butina also used sexual favors as a lure, allegedly offering sex for a position at a special interest organization.

It’s difficult to figure out how Donald Trump didn’t see this coming. He was ordering Michael Cohen to take illegal measures to make his various scandals go away, during a presidential election no less. Cohen had to have known that this all might come to light eventually, and if it did, he could use recordings of these discussions to sell out Trump and perhaps save himself.

Once again, Donald Trump has made the mistake of choosing to trust the wrong people. Michael Cohen was willing to commit crimes for him, but he wasn’t willing to do so without creating an insurance policy for himself in the process. In the end, Cohen didn’t even get to use the tapes as leverage, as the FBI simply seized them.

He is now God and thinks (maybe will) get away with anything.

“Cohen once bragged that he would take a bullet for his client, Donald Trump. “I’m the guy who protects the president and the family,” he insisted. More recently, Cohen offered that he would “rather jump out of a building than turn on Donald Trump,” “

The Chances of Donald Trump Being Charged With Crimes Just Increased Exponentially

…The background is that New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood filed a civil lawsuit against Donald Trump, three of his children and the Trump Foundation in June. That lawsuit states that the Trumps illegally used the nonprofit foundation as a personal “checkbook” for their own benefit. The suit also says that foundation funds were used in Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.

In order to move from the civil lawsuit to a criminal case, the Attorney General must receive a criminal referral. Given the facts of the case, it is reasonable to think that Underwood would be open to requesting such a criminal referral, but she has not done so.

Underwood’s office said in a statement after the governor’s action on Wednesday:

“We continue to evaluate the evidence to determine what additional actions may be warranted, and will seek a criminal referral from the appropriate state agency as necessary.”

BREAKING NEWS: If this Bloomberg report is accurate, Trump secretly agreed to consider giving Crimea to Putin via a sham “vote” (which would in effect be giving his blessing to a war crime) and then conspired with him to hide that agreement from America’s voters and elected reps.

(UPDATE) A reader notes that the referendum Trump is considering backing wouldn’t be for Crimea, as Putin already held his sham vote there, but even MORE of Ukraine (areas where there is conflict in Eastern Ukraine). So all this is WORSE than my initial post indicated—by a *lot*.

    • ANONYMOUS July 20, 2018 at 6:20 pm

“At his press conference with Trump after Monday’s summit in Helsinki, Putin pointed to a 2014 referendum, which wasn’t internationally recognized, to justify Russia’s annexation of Crimea. “We believe that we held a referendum in strict compliance with international law,” he said. “This case is closed for Russia.”

      ‘Farce’ Votes

Leaders of so-called people’s republics in Donetsk and Luhansk held referendums in May 2014 that declared independence. The votes were rejected as illegal by the U.S. and the EU, while Ukraine called them a “farce.”

BREAKING NEWS: Giuliani Lied in Saying Trump Wanted to Pay McDougal With a Traceable Check; In Fact, He Demanded She Be Paid in Untraceable Cash

A source familiar with the recording told CNBC that, in fact, it was Trump who raised the idea of paying McDougal with cash.

The source also said that it was Cohen who told Trump they would use a check to pay her if they ended up making such a payment.

Maddow is reporting that Trump’slawyers leaked the news about the tape to get ahead of the story so they could spin it. The tape was a privileged document.

I am wondering what Melania Trump thinks of the news of this tape? Newly born Barron then Stormy Daniel and Karen McDougal known at this time.
The nerve of Trump approving pay offs while arranging to humiliate the Clintons publicly for Bill’s transgressions. I hope Cohen flips this weekend dropping bombs of information about Trump.

Sean Hannity suddenly has a huge problem

…The bottom line is this: based on what we’ve learned about Michael Cohen’s pattern of behavior, it’s likely that he secretly recorded his conversations with Sean Hannity. And based on Cohen’s penchant for leaving these tapes lying around in office, where the FBI could seize them, the Feds likely already have any such tapes of Cohen and Hannity. If Hannity did indeed only ask Cohen for legitimate legal advice, that’ll come out. But if it was something else… suffice it to say that Hannity has a problem on his hands.

“rump is panicking because he knows he’s guilty”
“rump’s three-pronged meltdown on Saturday morning – trashing the government, accusing Cohen of a crime and insisting that “your favorite President did nothing wrong!” – shows that he knows the tapes are a legal nightmare for him.” JAIL TIME!
” “Trump and Cohen engaged in criminal activity to bury a story that would hurt Trump’s campaign.”

If Trump was discussing payments to women during the campaign in order to influence the election, that would likely constitute campaign finance violations, among other crimes.

The best strategy for anybody to assert their innocence isn’t to throw tantrums on social media.”
