Emboldened by Donald Trump Russia and China seek to gut humanitarian efforts by the UN.

The United States has always led the way on humanitarian rights, with America out of the game who will hold those efforts together.

Courtesy of Foreign Policy:

China and Russia, emboldened by the Trump administration’s retreat on human rights issues and its drive to cut spending at the United Nations, are quietly seeking to scale back programs in U.N. peacekeeping missions around the world that protect civilians from violence and sexual exploitation, according to diplomats and confidential documents.

The two countries are waging the campaign largely in closed-door budget negotiations, where they’re arguing for dramatic cuts in funding for the programs and the elimination of at least 170 jobs.

Both Russia and China are motivated by a broad disdain for human rights promotion at the U.N. and a feeling that the world body should not be meddling in the domestic policies of member states.

Their position on the issue is not new but previous U.S. administrations have usually managed to prevent China and Russia from undermining the work the U.N. does on human rights. Now, the two countries are benefiting from President Donald Trump’s impulse to withdraw from the world and withhold money from international organizations.

“Every year there is a push by China and Russia” to roll back human rights, one of the diplomats said, but this year, the “push is getting stronger.”

Every previous president for at least the last 60 years has known how important American leadership was for humanitarian causes, this is the first time that we have elected an actual sociopath who lacks the empathy to care about anybody but himself.

I wonder if these idiots who voted for this POS truly understood just how much damage he could cause to the future of this country?

(Reasonable price per pair) times (number of pairs purchased) equals (thousands of dollars). That was “the deal”. Looking up the actual figures is left as an exercise for the student.

I have no reason to believe that a pair of tactical pants costs “thousands of dollars”. A typical ad that I found by googling tactical pants epa (something that “July 2, 2018 at 6:36 am” could have done) gave a price of $49.95. A price total I’ve seen on several web sites is $2,749.62. Given Pruitt’s tendency to overspend, it’s quite possible that he bought hundred-dollar pants. But not thousands-of-dollars pants.

According to Henry Barnet, director of the EPA’s Office of Criminal Enforcement, Forensics, and Training, “These are routine expenditures for our Criminal Investigative Division (CID) and Protective Security Detail (PSD) agents to have proper attire for search warrants, arrests, disaster responses and training.”

As for “why he needs them?” please note that they were for agents nationwide, not for his personal use. In his perception (which I have no intention of trying to defend) EPA agents are going to need additional protection in view of the policies he is introducing.

Why is this a surprise to anyone, trump doesn’t care about other humans, only himself.

YES, and after his comments last winter about Xi Jinping being president forever, ” I think it’s great. Maybe we’ll have to give that a shot some day,” I wonder if he’ll have to be dragged out kicking and screaming like the petulant toddler he is. He doesn’t pay attention to laws and, even though the press tried to peddle it as a joke, there is no doubt in my mind that he meant it.

“Since it is a violation of federal law for foreign money to be spent influencing U.S. elections, the list of NRA donors would give Mueller clues about the possible use of shell companies that had been used to hide the fact that the contributions to the NRA originated in Russia.

When prosecutors ask judges for access to tax information this is done “entirely in the background, with no notice to the subject of the investigation,” said David Axelrod, a former Justice Department Tax Division Attorney. This means that when Mueller obtains access to tax records nobody knows about it.”

“So Russia turned to the NRA and other gun enthusiasts to try to promote the issue,”
