Donald Trump’s response to over 300 newspapers simultaneously writing op-eds about his attacks on the media, is to tweet another attack on the media.

Hundreds of newspaper editorial boards across the country answered a nationwide call Thursday to express disdain for President Trump’s attacks on the news media, while some explained their decision not to do so. The same morning, the president tweeted that the “fake news media” are the “opposition party.”

The editorials came after the Boston Globe’s editorial board called on others to use their collective voice to respond to Trump’s war of words with news organizations in the United States.

Trump has labeled the news media “the enemy of the American people” and called much of the coverage “fake news.”

The Globe’s op-ed board wrote in an editorial published online Wednesday that, “Today in the United States we have a president who has created a mantra that members of the media who do not blatantly support the policies of the current US administration are the ‘enemy of the people.

“This is one of the many lies that have been thrown out by this president, much like an old-time charlatan threw out ‘magic’ dust or water on a hopeful crowd.”

Over three hundred newspapers answered the call from the Boston Globe, and as you might imagine some of the op-eds were fairly brutal.

But a number of them were also written to inform Trump that he was damaging something fundamentally important in our country, and asking him to please reconsider his dangerous tactics.

And still others like the Washington Post, New York Times, and LA Times did not participate, deciding instead that they valued independence over an organized response to Trump’s constant and over the top attacks.

Clearly, Trump read or at least skimmed a few of the newspapers that did participate, and his response was quite predictable.

Well, so much for civil discourse.

And it is also an illustration of why newspapers, television news outlets, and online content providers are so incredibly important right now.

Donald Trump has the bully pulpit from which to spew his never-ending stream of bullshit.

To fight that, it will take all of us working together to find and share the truth in order to disseminate it to those who simply can no longer tell the difference between fact and propaganda.

Trump got into a bizarre fight with Vietnam vets over the movie ‘Apocalypse Now’: report

A new report from the Daily Beast’s Asawin Suebsaeng claims that President Donald Trump got into a bizarre argument last year during a meeting with Vietnam veterans over the classic war movie “Apocalypse Now.”

According to Suebsaeng’s sources, the meeting between Trump and several Vietnam veterans was arranged by estranged former aide Omarosa Manigault-Newman, who at the time served as a liaison between the president and veterans’ organizations.

During the meeting, a dispute broke out over whether Robert Duvall’s character in “Apocalypse Now” used napalm or Agent Orange against Vietcong forces. Apparently, Trump falsely believed that it was Agent Orange that U.S. forces used against the enemy, despite the fact that the movie’s single most famous line is Duvall’s character saying, “I love the smell of napalm in the morning.”

“Multiple people — including Vietnam War veterans — chimed in to inform the president that the Apocalypse Now set piece he was talking about showcased the U.S. military using napalm, not Agent Orange,” Suebsaeng reports. “Trump refused to accept that he was mistaken and proceeded to say things like, ‘no, I think it’s that stuff from that movie.’”

One veteran who was present at the meeting described it to Suebsaeng as “really f*cking weird.”

“The people who are leading the attack on the United States are at the highest levels of Putin’s government. There is a reason why there are sanctions on members of the Russian legislature. The sanctions date back to Russia’s annexing of CRIMEa and destabilization of Ukraine in 2014, and they were strengthed after their 2016 attack on the presidential election.” “The steady march of Republican members of Congress to Russia should be troubling to every voter.” “The Russia problem is more significant than Trump. The Republican Party appears to be selling itself out to Russia right before our eyes.”

There is the usual hypocrisy in what Donald says. Everyday he writes whatever the hell comes to his pea brain and gets away with it. Yet when others say what is most likely true about him he does this fake news shit. I wish to hell Donald was fake news. But the fact is he is as real as day and night, and he’s coming for our rights and he, Putin, and the Republican Reich are aiding and abedding.
