As an Alaskan, I beg to differ.

President Trump predicted Saturday that Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) “will never recover” politically for her vote against Supreme Court nominee Brett M. Kavanaugh as he celebrated his nominee’s ascension following an extraordinarily brutal confirmation process.
In a brief telephone interview with The Washington Post, Trump said voters in Alaska “will never forgive” Murkowski for voting against confirming Kavanaugh, and he forecast her defeat in a Republican primary should she run for reelection in 2022.
“I think she will never recover from this,” Trump said. “I think the people from Alaska will never forgive her for what she did.”
Here’s the thing. By the time 2020 rolls around Donald Trump will likely be impeached or at the very least voted out of office, and this country will be in a kind of group therapy attempting desperately to expunge the memory of his tainted presidency from our subconscious.
Lisa Murkowski voted the way that she did because she KNEW that voting for Kavanaugh would have been political suicide up here in the Great Land, and she is dead right.
The women of Alaska and the Alaska Native population despised Kavanaugh and would have never let her live down a yes vote if she had indeed folded like Susan Collins of Maine.
No, I would bet money that if Murkowski has a Republican challenger in 2020 that Brett Kavanaugh’s name never even comes up.
Nor Donald Trump’s for that matter.
