Democratic lawmaker wants to do away with ICE.

A Democratic lawmaker on Monday introduced legislation to abolish U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), citing the Trump administration’s handling of the agency.

“From conducting raids at garden centers, and meatpacking plants, to breaking up families at churches and schools, ICE is tearing apart families and ripping the moral fabric of our nation,” Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wis.) said in a statement.

“Unfortunately, President Trump and his team of white nationalists, including Stephen Miller, have so misused ICE that the agency can no longer accomplish its goals effectively,” he continued.

Pocan introduced the measure after traveling to the southern border last week.

“During my trip to the southern border, it was clear that ICE, and its actions of hunting down and tearing apart families, has wreaked havoc on far too many people,” he said.

Pocan is joined by other Democrats who are also calling for ICE to be abolished.

I would typically think that this was a bit extreme, but from what we have seen lately it might well be the appropriate response.

What do you all think?

Rick Scott gave $600K tax break to kiddie concentration camp–that also engaged in fraud

…..n Homestead, Florida, a federal compound detaining around 1000 kids is managed by a Florida contractor called Comprehensive Health Services. They got the contract a few weeks before Trump’s inhumane policy took effect. Ten percent of the children there have been forcibly separated from their parents by immigration agents.

This was a facility that was shut down years ago, but re-opened in time for Trump’s child kidnapping policy. Why are they operating here in Florida? You can thank Rick Scott.
The facility was given $600,000 as a tax-incentive.

    And it gets even worse:
But just as Scott was negotiating that tax break, Comprehensive Health was hashing out a deal with the feds to pay a $3.8 million settlement to the U.S. Department of Justice over a medical-fraud claim. After Comprehensive Health paid the fine in February 2017 (without admitting any wrongdoing), Florida gave the company the tax breaks anyway….

Maybe the key is to abolish trump’s policy and trump or restructure it so the president cannot change the rules and use Customs and Immigration for his own motives.

So who would be in charge of Customs when you cross the border, just asking because people cross the border in Detroit everyday and everyone goes through customs on both sides, are they going to open the border ?

A few years ago a retired cop told me that today’s police are different from when he entered the force. Back then the police were more interested in helping people and enforcing the law in the most humane way possible. (There were exceptions, of course.) In his almost 30 years as a cop, he never pulled his gun on anyone. He thinks that for the most part, police today are more interested in being “tough guys” and have the wrong attitude about policing. (Again, there are exceptions, and many good cops.) The answer, I think, is not eliminating ICE or other police agencies, but changing the culture. This means a change at the top, and better screening of people who want to become cops.

““…The other thing that is more important, and that I’m not supposed to be telling you, but I’m going to tell you the truth,” a staffer at the facility can be overheard saying in Spanish in the audio clip. “If, for whatever reason, you tell a reporter [about your situation here], you know what’s going to happen to your case? It’s going to be on the news. And then one doesn’t know what’s going to happen — if you’re going to last here a long time. I’m not trying to scare you, I’m just telling you — it’s the truth.”

The staffer adds that “the kids have to be careful not to talk, because while you’re here, you guys are okay.”

“We are protecting you,” the staffer says. “We’re trying to help you so that you can [be reunited] with your family or whoever it may be. Understood?””
“The staffer appears to be threatening the children against speaking out, warning them that doing so could imperil their immigration case, forcing them to remain in detention for a long time, or suggesting that it could get them deported quickly. It’s not entirely clear which of the scenarios the staffer is trying to describe, but the threat is nonetheless troubling.”

They are also using the kids as hostages and telling the parents if you sign the self deportation paper you can get your kid back. This also takes away their right to ask for aslyum now and in future.

“Writing for the conservative majority that included Gorsuch, Chief Justice John Roberts downplayed Trump’s repeated calls for a Muslim ban and said, “we must consider not only the statements of a particular President, but also the authority of the Presidency itself.””

    Just think..IF….Barack Obama…

Keep rooting for the Mexican cartel smugglers and their coyotes that actually put illegal immigrants at risk. (i.e. this is not a battle the liberals are going to win).
