Children’s book about Donald Trump reads like a hagiography.

Makes you wonder if Trump was not the book’s editor.

His buildings reached into the sky.
His businesses just grew and grew.
Then Trump became our president–
People wanted something new.

This optimistic poem, which reads like promotional campaign material targeted at children, comes from Scholastic’s Rookie Biography series.

President Donald Trump by Joanne Mattern (2017) claims to offer young readers an informative, accurate, and unbiased narrative about the 45th U.S. president; however, as the poem above illustrates, it falls far short of that mark.

President Donald Trump is anything but neutral. The book outlines Trump’s personal and professional life with a celebratory tone. It omits facts, glosses over context, and ignores opposing perspectives.

Our concern with the text is not the accuracy of the statements and events included, but rather with the extensive omissions that undermine a truthful, nuanced, and informative account. These partial truths construct a false narrative. Scrubbing away any trace of complexity or nuance from an account about an elected official stunts the quintessential democratic freedom and responsibility of questioning and critiquing those in positions of power. We find this book to be dangerous from a democratic standpoint.

Now it is not that unusual for children’s’ books about American presidents to exaggerate achievements and omit controversy.

After all, do we really believe that Abraham Lincoln could NOT tell a lie?

Or that George Washington cut down a cherry tree and skipped a silver dollar across the Potomac River?

Of course not.

However Donald Trump is not a figure from history, but the current leader of this country, and as such, he needs to be revealed for what he truly is, and not what his apologists and paid spokespeople would have us believe.

Donald Trump came to prominence by attacking the first black man elected President, as a non-citizen, and using fear of immigrants to fan the fires of racism and xenophobia.

As president Donald Trump has attacked our allies while expressing sympathy for dictators and has openly taken direction from Vladimir Putin, the man who worked tirelessly to put him into office in the first place.

Donald Trump is also being sued by multiple plaintiffs, including a porn star, a woman who claims he sexually assaulted her, and the Attorney general of New York.

THAT is who Donald Trump is, and every American child deserves to know that.

About the Author:

This blog is dedicated to finding the truth, exposing the lies, and holding our politicians and leaders accountable when they fall far short of the promises that they have made to both my fellow Alaskans and the American people.

Scholastic Books put this out??? OMG.

    In other humorous reading:

Facebook Still Screwing Us Over… But We Won’t Retreat ~ We’ll Reload ~ With Truth
Many are aware of Facebook’s anti-commonsense conservative bent. You can’t miss the manifestation of their bias as they try to lock us out of an arena I use to stay connected with millions of Americans.
The website continues to be negatively affected by FB’s injustice, thus negatively affecting the ability to reach millions of FB followers, media that picks up FB posts, and the…public in general.
Some have asked, “Why does it seem we’re less able to hear or read your message?” In fact, the President asked me that the other day, wondering why it seemed I’m ‘laying low.’
It’s crystal clear FB is keen on censoring public figures like me. You know ~ the kind of American armed with truth, is blessed to have a platform, and who’d use the Leftist anti-freedom agenda as FUEL to come out swinging and win in the end for this great nation.
We won’t be silenced. We won’t retreat. Facebook’s deception will catch up with them. The behemoth monopoly will be challenged by private sector innovators in a free market. Voices will have choices. And that will be a glorious day.

That’s right, queenie, attack Facebook for your “has been” status when a simple search can pull up your page in seconds. Or are your ever-dwindling base and you too stoooopid to realize that? There’s also this little tool called “See First” if people really wanted to. Cry me a river that your numbers are down. Is VICTIM (capital letters intended) going to be directly underneath Sarah Louise Palin on your tombstone?

WTH DOES she do except exaggerate her self-importance? She doesn’t even write her own stuff anymore, but pays some flunkie “Lawrence” to do so for her. What does her website say at the bottom? “The views shared here are not necessarily those of Sarah Palin,” or something to that effect. Why post it in the first place then? She is so effing stupid, quite frankly, that Trump asks her advice on anything is beyond ridiculous but Lord knows they’re peas in a pod.. That people lap it up as truth. well, what can one say. The woman is as mental as Roseanne.

Misunderstanding religion has so many Ill, ignorant symptoms.

Do I get points for knowing what a hagiography is? Heck, even HAGiography could define $arah’s trilogy of books.

I don’t know if anyone watched Bill Maher last night but he brought up how realistic it is that Orange Julius refuses t leave the White House.

Don’t sweat it, the chairman, Dick Robinson (and son of the founder IIRC), is a lifelong Democrat, very much into education. He has played a role in all our lives, so it’s nice to know that this isn’t some Republican plot to twist young minds (and what a nice change that is).
